Bullying Survey Response Analysis
Thank you to the families who responded to the recent questionnaire about bullying. School administrators have spent time reviewing the responses from families, students, and staff. While the majority of respondents feel that WB Schools respond appropriately to allegations of bullying, we've found some areas where we can improve. Below you'll find a slide from our presentation to School Committee identifying our proposed next steps.
One important step is making the reporting of suspected bullying easier for students and families. All school websites now feature an easy-to find, easy to complete "Bullying Reporting Form." You'll also be able to find a button to report bullying included in every school newsletter. I've included it below in this newsletter, and plan to put it at the bottom of every future newsletter.
We Rocked Our Socks Today!
WB's SEPAC invited us to celebrate International Day of Disabilities! Students, faculty, and staff got creative and wore their most colorful, mismatched, and fun socks to school and donated to SEPAC to support efforts to include students with disabilities in our schools
Balloons Over RLM!
Our third graders had the exciting opportunity to bring the story Balloons Over Broadway to life by parading balloons through the hallways. This creative activity not only captivated the participants but also delighted spectators, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.
What a fantastic way to engage students and celebrate the story’s vibrant spirit!
Voting Day at RLM
Our students were enthusiastic participants in the voting process, and we couldn't be more excited to share the results! Volunteers from the third grade managed the polls and held informative signs, while a dedicated group of first graders campaigned during morning snack.
Now, the moment you've all been waiting for…
- Extra Recess: 183 votes
- Extra Chromebook Time: 95 votes
Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event such a success!
Folktales From Around The World And Back
We were thrilled to welcome Storyteller Muriel Johnson to the RLM! She captivated students with a rich tapestry of multicultural and African Diasporic fables, folktales, and songs. Each story was infused with interactive elements—movement, sing-alongs, claps, and chants—that kept everyone engaged! From West African Anansi tales filled with moral lessons to clever Native American Trickster stories, Muriel's storytelling explored themes of friendship, overcoming obstacles, cultural diversity, and how things came to be. A truly magical experience for all ages! Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this unforgettable presentation!!
Thank you Veterans!
We had the honor of welcoming local veterans to our school to speak with students in celebration of Veterans Day. Their stories and experiences remind us of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication that define our heroes. We are grateful for their service and for taking the time to share their insights with us. Thank you to all veterans for your service and commitment to our country!
Ride to School in a Firetruck
The Sydney Craven Memorial Fund is a meaningful initiative that honors the life of Sydney Craven, a young girl whose vibrant personality and “sparkle” touched the lives of those around her. The fund provides financial support to children and families in Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, and West Bridgewater, ensuring they have the opportunity to participate in activities that promote individuality, growth, and self-discovery. This includes awarding annual scholarships that help children build self-esteem and embrace their unique qualities—what they describe as their “inner-sparkle.” The Sydney-Craven SparkleFest raffle event, such as the one where Nolan and Scarlett won the "Ride to School in a Fire Truck" prize, is an example of how the fund also engages the community in fun and memorable ways while raising awareness and support for its cause.
Rotary Club of Bridgewaters
Our third graders were presented with dictionaries from the Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters. Students wrote about how they can help others and be kind. Students presented their ideas and pictures to their classmates!
Raising MultiCultural Kids
RLM students have been excited and looking forward to their visits from RMK Diversity Leaders! The literature shared so far as been:
Watercress by Andrea Wang
The Girl Who Figured It Out: The Inspiring Story of Wheelchair Athlete Minda Dentler, Becoming an Inonman World Champion by Minda Dentler
Mixed Me by Taye Diggs
Diversity Leaders are focusing on :
- Encouraging students to be curious about themselves and others builds self-confidence and empathy.
- Exposing students to different family structures, cultures, skin colors, abilities and language widens a student's worldview and builds perspective-taking skills.
- Providing children with appropriate language to describe differences and harmful treatment gives children the skills to address issues and create productive dialogue about change
- Representation matters
Look At What We Are Learning
Third grade turned their classrooms into a museum to showcase their Wit and Wisdom Module One work on the sea. Each student created a didactic wall panel on either a shark or squid as well as a 3D replica. First and second grade classes came to visit our museums!
Ingenuity
These awesome students were recognized by their teachers for showing Ingenuity during the month of November. Ingenuity is defined as the quality of being clever, original, inventive and being able to think outside the box.
Every Monday and Friday we have student volunteers who share their examples of how they show INGENUITY on the morning announcements.
