Dear Everitt Families,
Perhaps you’ll indulge me for a moment as I share a few things I’ve learned from all of you during my time as Everitt’s principal. Of course, you’re more than welcome to scroll down to the many adorable photos of the world’s best middle school students—but if you’re still reading, thank you. Here goes.
You have taught me the true meaning of community.
Through you, I have learned more about what community is. I remember going to my first PTA meeting and hearing that the primary mission of the PTA was not to raise money but to create community. That idea struck a deep chord in me, and I’ve seen it lived out every day since. Whether through our Family Fall Festival, movie nights, book club, or our Thanksgiving baskets and Giving Tree, our PTA has made countless opportunities for our families to share life together. At Everitt, I discovered that real community means you can show up as your full, authentic self. Here, everyone is welcomed as they are and encouraged to give what they can. Being part of this community has shown me that real belonging requires both courage and generosity—and it’s been an incredible privilege to witness that in action.
You have shown me what love looks like in everyday moments.
One of my favorite parts of each day is being outside for drop-off and pick-up. In those short, often chaotic minutes, I get to see love in its most genuine forms. Sometimes it’s a parent shouting “I love you!” out the window to a cringing but smiling middle schooler. Sometimes it’s gently insisting that a child does, in fact, have to get out of the car—even if they’re not thrilled about their new haircut. I’ve also seen you show love through accountability, holding your kids to high expectations because you believe in their growth and potential. I’ve seen it in the way you sit beside them in classrooms, in your advocacy, and in your honest conversations. You love your children so well, and it has been such a gift to witness.
You’ve taught me the beauty of grace.
Over the years, as we’ve navigated challenges together, you’ve shown me so much grace. I’ve made mistakes—no doubt about that—but never once have you questioned my heart for this school or your children. Instead, you’ve reached out kindly, allowed me to make things right, and continued to support me and our staff. That same grace shines in how you treat our teachers, one another, and your own children. For that, I am deeply thankful.
Thank you, Everitt community, for five unforgettable years. I know you’ll embrace David Alex with the same warmth, kindness, and spirit of togetherness that made my time here so meaningful. I’m genuinely excited for him to experience what I’ve been lucky enough to witness and be part of.
This week has been full of fun! Below, you will see photos from the last Theatre Guild show, the 8th grade field trip, Continuation, and our last day of school extravaganza! I hope the photos of the events bring you as much joy as they brought to us while participating in them.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It has been my privilege to partner with you!

Some High Quality Work From the Week
Deforestation by Serenity Bumpus
Hello Everitt Families, this is Reese Haskell and Graciella Rivera. We are addressing what we have learned in our Science Project. We are making a Science Project about how Wildfires Impact Our Ecosystem. We want to take a moment to explain to you how we can all interfere to help our Environment so we could put a stop to the Wildfires burning down forests, homes, areas of land, ect.
Wildfires are increasing in size and the amount of Wildfires happening in our World. Wildfires can have an impact on animals from the heat and smoke that is produced from the Wildfires. Also animals that are immobile and too slow faced can get increased risks and effects of injuries or death. There can be loss of vegetation. It can also affect plants and crops being able to grow because it reduces nutrition availability. Smoke can affect humans respiratory systems, toxins from smoke can damage lung tissue. Also exposure from smoke particles can lead to lung infections and pulmonary inflammation.
The air quality can be very different after Wildfires happen. Depending on size of smoke particle, the some particles can stay in the air for many years or around a week.Chemical continue to release into the air the weeks after the fire happened, the chemicals in the air would reduce over time Wildfire smoke involves many different chemicals and pollutants such as, carbon monoxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, water vapor, and particle pollution, so the air feels very heavy and impacted. Over the past 20 years the amount of land burned has increased. Wildfires have grown larger. Use of land has changed and more population growth is impacting the amount of climate change which can create ideal conditions for extreme wildfires. The places where wildfires occur most are California, Washington, Oregon, Amazon Rainforest-Brazil. All areas have at least a Wildfire yearly so every area that is affected could use some help.
Most wildfires are created by humans, Fireworks, Discarded Cigarettes. There are many more ways but these can be pretty common. Climate change has been found as the main source for Wildfires. Decreasing summer rainfalls are all taking place in fire activity. Wildfire risks depend on some factors to create the product such as temperature, soil moisture, and trees, shrubs and other factors that can create potential fuel. Wildfire can cause burns from contact with flames and hot surfaces and as chemical and electrical burns. Wildfire smoke can happen to cause disorders including reduced lung function, bronchitis, exacerbation of asthma, and cardiovascular effects like heart failure. Some firefighters can develop a heat-illness like a heat stroke and rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown.) Climate change has doubled the amount of larger fires between 1984 and 2015 in western states in the U.S. Climate change enhances dryness of organic matter in forests. Changes in Climate are to continue to increase in areas that wildfires are affected in the United States.
Thank you for taking your time to read this essay about Climate Change and Wildfires. As a result, let's start taking action and stop causing Climate Change so we could put a stop to wildfires growing larger and destroying everything people have. Let's save the environment! Let's save ourselves!

Family Engagement Corner
Hello Everitt families,
Unbelievable, the end is here. Or, more optimistically, summer break is here. It's been a whirlwind for me, and I count myself lucky that I am in this role. I look forward to every opportunity I get to see you at family events. I hope there will be a few more added next year, since I get to start at the beginning this time.
I am including resources that hopefully will help during the summer.
One is from a major community partner, The Action Center. Whether you are in need of resources or are interested in volunteering or donating, the Action Center is very helpful to those in the surrounding communities and our Everitt community specifically. Fun Fact: Edgar Solis who does great work there, was the OG Family Liaison here, once upon a time. I will include a flyer and the link to check them out. https://www.theactioncenter.org/
To my 8th graders.. Yes, I said mine..
I am very proud of all of you, and you really made my first year at Everitt memorable. I will miss you all tons.
I put together a little list of advice for you, straight from "The Farm" about how to survive and thrive in high school. Please print it, laminate it and/or put it where you can remind yourself, and know that Ms. Rose thinks of our time together fondly, and wants you to do well. You always have someone on your side. Lots of someones, actually. See you in 2029!

We hope that everyone has a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. We know that there will be some new faces in the building next year, and while we will miss everyone who is leaving, Everitt’s community is as strong as ever.
Join our Board
We are looking for a PTA Treasurer and a VP. Please email everittpta@gmail.com if you’d like to join the best PTA Board in the area (yes, we are biased, but it’s true). Everitt will also need a new School Accountability Committee (SAC) Chair next year. Please email our new principal, David Alex, if you are interested in that role.
Our Fearless Leader
We would like to take a moment to recognize Principal Amanda Pouliot for being such a collaborative, supportive and committed leader to our school. Throughout her time at Everitt, Amanda’s door was always open to students, parents and guardians for questions, feedback and suggestions. She brought out the best in all of us, and we feel so lucky to have had her as our school leader. Thank you so much for your tireless efforts, Amanda. Your mark on Everitt will last forever.
Volunteer Recognition
We are so grateful for all of you for showing up in so many ways this year, and we can’t wait to work together next year to support our neighborhood school.
A very special thank you to Liz Mason who has served as SAC Chair for the last 7 years and has coordinated our Everitt Thanksgiving Baskets, Giving Tree, and Staff Appreciation, as well as doing countless other things for our school during that time. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Liz for the time that she has given to our community.
Thank you to Emily Ceccanti and Alexis Haws for your tremendous contributions to our PTA as Board Members throughout your students’ time at Everitt. And thank you to all of our other outgoing parents for all that you have done for Everitt. We will miss you so much.
