From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
A huge Thank You to Mrs. Ossenschmidt and Mrs. Jungkunz for all their efforts to put our Fine Arts Night together. The 1st-3rd grade students were adorable and did a fantastic job singing and dancing. I was blown away by the artistic ability of these students as well. I loved seeing the students so excited to show off their art projects to their family members. A special thanks to Trisha Maddux and her team of volunteers for opening the Book Fair after the Fine Arts Night so that parents and grandparents could purchase books. The line was out the library door all night.
I look forward to seeing everyone who signed up for conferences in the building tomorrow after school. We had a great turnout and many teachers had to ask some families to have a phone conference instead of an in person meeting due to the number of requested conferences. I am sure tomorrow will be a great night of collaboration between parents and teachers to ensure our students are where they need to be by the end of the school year. Speaking of conference night, thanks to all the parents who signed up to bring in an item for the conference night dinner. We are so lucky to have so many families willing to pitch in to ensure that the teachers have a good meal on a day they are in the building for 12 hours.
This is a reminder that we do not have school on Friday, March 15th (conference release day) and Monday, March 18th (PD day). I hope everyone enjoys your long weekend. Hopefully the weather stays nice and warm so families can enjoy some time outdoors.

St. Patrick's Day Shirts & Socks
Students may wear St. Patrick's Day themed (or any green) shirts and socks with regular uniform bottoms on Thursday, March 14.
Scholastic Book Fair Reminders
- On the day that your child's class is scheduled to BUY their books, please send back the wish list along with enough money to cover their purchases plus 7.8% sales tax. The book fair accepts cash, check (made payable to St. John the Baptist School), or e-wallet payment. E-WALLET IS THE PREFERRED FORM OF PAYMENT, as it is much easier for both the students AND our book fair volunteers. All sales benefit the St. John the Baptist School Library!
- In addition, many of the teachers have set up e-wallet accounts to purchase books for their class rooms. Be on the lookout for an email with a link to donate to your child's teacher's e-wallet!
- And, last but not least, one of the students' favorite Book Fair traditions is the Book Fair Raffle!!! Every BOOK purchased earns your student one raffle ticket to win a fantastic raffle prizes! (Please note: only BOOK purchases count towards raffle tickets. Pens, pencils, toys, etc... do not count towards raffle tickets.)
Student Council Spirit Week
Student Council is sponsoring Spirit Week from March 19-22. For a donation of $1 per day OR 1 canned good per day, students may be out of uniform according to the following themes:
Tuesday, 3/19: High School or College Day (tops and socks only)
Wednesday, 3/20: Decades Day (tops and socks only)
Thursday, 3/21: One Color Day (tops and socks only)
Friday, 3/22: Comfy As Can Be Day (completely out of uniform)

Pie To The Face Incentive Continues
Ever wanted to show love to one of your favorite
teachers or staff member by throwing a pie to their face??
FOR ONE LUCKY FAMILY, THIS COULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE!
To make this happen is as easy as pie! If the school earns $1,600 PROFIT (not sales) on Shopping Cent$ orders over the next 4 turn-in dates, one lucky family will get to throw a pie in the face of a teacher or staff member, in front of the entire school! For every order you turn in, your family is entered in a drawing to win the incentive. The more times you turn in an order, the better your odds to win!
Remaining Turn-in dates will be March 21st and April 11th and 25th.

Old Yearbooks For Sale
If you missed out on ordering any yearbooks from previous years, now is your chance to complete your collection! We have a limited number of yearbooks available dating back to the 2010-2011 school year. Prices vary depending on the year. To make a purchase, please contact Laura Heidorn in the school office.
Baby Food Jars Needed
Kindergarten is in need of small glass baby food or yogurt jars for an upcoming project. If you have any that you are willing to part with, please send them into school with your child(ren) to the attention of Mrs. Unkrich.
Quarterly Kroger Plus Earnings $1310.00
You shop. Kroger gives. We received $1310.00 this quarter from the Kroger Community Rewards program. Our school earns a percentage of your purchases when you have your Kroger Plus card linked to St. John's. Spectacular Gala Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to join the planning committee for our School Spectacular Gala in November.
- Chairperson/Co-Chairs for the 2025 event: Our current Chairperson, Erika Tonne, is seeking someone to "shadow" her this year and then takeover the event in 2025.
- Committee Members There are many different ways to help with this event including obtaining sponsorships & donations, silent auction, decorations, set-up, tear-down, and more.

Shining Light Awards
Congratulations to our most recent recipients of "Shining Light Awards!" Thank you for letting your lights shine through acts of kindness and being good friends to fellow classmates.
Shower Palooza!
Two baby girls arriving in April and a wedding in June are cause for a SHOWER PALOOZA celebration at Pebble Creek Restaurant!
- Our Business Manager, Mr. Sam Johnston, and his wife Abby are expecting their first child in April.
- One of our third grade teachers, Mrs. Ally Hesse, and her husband Jaron are also expecting their first child in April.
- Our sixth and seventh grade English Language Arts teacher, Mr. Ross Wuerdeman, and his fiancee Brynn are getting married in June.
We enjoyed celebrating them after school last Thursday and are excited for the new beginnings that await them!
Fish Fry Bake Sales
Our Girl Scout Troops have been busy selling baked goods at the St. John's Fish Fry on Friday evenings.
Damascus Confirmation Retreat
Our 7th & 8th graders recently attended a Damascus Confirmation Retreat in Centersburg, Ohio. These retreats are designed to awaken middle school students to the love and presence of God and to give them an experiential understanding of the beauty of the Catholic Church & the adventure of a life lived in relationship with God.
Book Fair
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is underway this week! Eighth grade students attended with their kindergarten buddies to help them make wish lists and read stories.
Cincinnati Nature Center
Fourth grade students visited the Cincinnati Nature Center on Monday to attend the "What's For Lunch" program. They learned about food chains and webs, ecosystem interactions, and niches and adaptations specific to “eat or be eaten."
Fine Arts Night
Our 3rd annual Fine Arts Night was an astounding success! A big thank you to Mrs Jennifer Ossenschmidt (Music) and Mrs. Kathy Jungkunz (Art) for all the hard work & planning that went into this special evening devoted to celebrating art and music in our school.

If you would like to order a Buddy Card, please return the order form with payment by Friday, March 22nd. Order forms were sent home on Wednesday in the Blue Jay Folders or can be printed from the attachment below. Buddy Cards will be sent home the first week of April.
Athletic Boosters
Concession Scheduler Needed
The athletic boosters are creating a new position within our organization, “Concession Scheduler”. We are looking for someone to fill this role and would entail the following:
• Create a signup genius with slots based on the game schedules (Fall and Spring sports only for outdoor concession) to staff the concession
• Send emails to families with active sports participants to sign up for slots
• Ensure we have coverage for all available slots and adjust schedule based on rainouts
• Create a schedule of openers/closers to make sure someone is present to unlock at the day’s start of games and to make sure everything is closed.
The concession stand provides an important revenue stream to support our various programs and to keep costs down. If you have any questions prior to committing, please reach out to me directly and I would be happy to provide more information. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Mercy McAuley Grade School Theatre Night
Fifth - 8th grade girls are invited to be the first audience to see Once Upon a Mattress at our Grade School Theatre Night on Thursday, March 21! Future Wolves will enjoy pizza at 5 p.m. and will meet the director, cast and crew. Then, at 5:30 p.m. they will watch the dress rehearsal of the musical! The show is expected to conclude at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the March 21 Grade School Theatre Night is free, but registration is required at www.mercymcauley.org/mattress.

Mercy McAuley Hosts Jumpstart Night for 5th-7th Grade Girls & Parents
Fifth-seventh grade girls and their parents are invited to get a jumpstart in exploring Mercy McAuley on Tuesday, April 16, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Parents will tour the school and choose FOUR of the following breakout sessions: Academics; Faith & Service; Athletics & Clubs; Student Panel; Financial Aid & Scholarships; Admissions Process. Separately, future Wolves will participate in fun activities with Mercy McAuley teachers, staff and students in different areas of the building. All 5th, 6th and 7th Grade Future Saints & Panthers are invited to the Backstage Pass Event! Experience a behind-the-scenes tour of the Seton & Elder Performing Arts Series spring musical, Shrek! This exclusive event on Sunday, April 7 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. is only $10 and includes a set tour, cast meet-and-greet, lunch and a private show of the cast's final dress rehearsal performance. St. Xavier Summer Camps
We are excited to offer a variety of summer camps where prospective students, boys and girls in grade school, will meet new friends, explore the St. Xavier campus and experience the core tenets of a Jesuit education. Through hands-on, community-based activities, St. Xavier’s teachers and coaches promote fun summer experiences filled with learning opportunities. Minecraft, filmmaking, guitar, acting, makers space, and a variety of sports camps are offered.
Class of 2029 only: St. Xavier is offering the Summer Enrichment Program. Through a mix of academic, cultural, social, and athletic activities, the SEP provides an excellent opportunity for students to become acquainted with life at St. X. Students will make a film, break out of an escape room, and build and race a soap box derby car. Register your son today for a fun-filled summer of meeting future classmates and having fun. Docentitos Academy
The Cincinnati Arts Association's Weston Art Gallery announces the twenty-sixth season of its award winning art ambassadorial program, Docentitos. This two-week summer camp is for children between the ages of 9 and 12 and takes place in the Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Daily activities include classes, artist talks, theater tours, workshops, installation and studio visits, script rehearsals, field trips and art projects.
