CHPS's 11th Annual Powwow
Thank you to everyone who came and participated in our 11th Annual CHPS Powwow! On Saturday, our CHPS Native American Parent Advisory Council and Native American Educator, Yolanda Dorr-Slowey, hosted our district’s annual powwow with a Jingle Dress special, tiny tots dances, a Men’s Traditional special, awards of academic achievement for our CHPS Native American students and an Eagle Feather ceremony for our CHHS 2025 Native graduate, Creighton Gonzalez.
Thank you to our Host Drum Hoka Hey, along with five other guest drums, who led the powwow, our emcees, all of our vendors, our Head Dancers Aza Ochoa and Breeze Jean Rogers and all who participated in the powwow.
This year’s powwow was special, as the CHPS NAPAC received and blessed their very own Eagle Staff, which will be used in all future celebrations and powwows. Thank you to Aza Ochoa for making the CHPS NAPAC Eagle Staff.

If your student is not up to date by this time, they will not be allowed in school until they are compliant. If you need assistance finding an appointment, please contact your school's Nurse, Liaison, or the District Nurse.
If your student will be taking medication at school next year, please use the summer to prepare the needed paperwork. A new Medication Authorization Form is needed each school year and must be signed by your student's provider and a parent/guardian. Medications must be dropped off by an adult, and we will not accept any medications without the necessary paperwork already on file. Please see the Health page of our district's website for more information.
Thank you for assisting us in keeping your student safe and healthy! Please contact Keturah Spriggs, District Nurse, at spriggsk@colheights.k12.mn.us or your school's nurse with any questions.
