Message from Mrs. Williams
CCI Families,
📝ILEARN Testing: Attendance is Key!
Our students will be taking the ILEARN state assessment from April 14 - May 9, and we need your help to set them up for success! Please avoid scheduling appointments, vacations, or planned absences during this window. Testing requires focused, uninterrupted time, and consistent attendance ensures students can do their best.
We appreciate your support in making sure students are well-rested, on time, and ready to show what they know! Thank you for partnering with us to make this a smooth and successful testing period. 📚✏️
📢 Check Your Student’s Earbuds! 🎧
As we prepare for ILEARN testing, please take a moment to check in with your student to ensure they have a working pair of earbuds. These are required for testing and will help provide the best possible testing experience. If your child does not have earbuds or needs a replacement, please make arrangements to get a pair before testing begins in April. Thank you for your support in setting our students up for success!
🌟 Dress Code Reminder: Shorts Length 🌟
As the weather warms up ☀️, we want to remind everyone of our dress code policy regarding shorts. To ensure a comfortable and appropriate learning environment, all shorts must be worn at mid-thigh length or longer ✏️. Please take a moment to check before heading to school each day ✅.
We appreciate your support in helping our students stay Ranger Ready! 🤠
🚌 Important Safety Update! 🛑
Our school buses now have stop-arm cameras to help keep students safe, both on and off the bus! Thanks to a generous donation from The Mobel Foundation and other community partners, these cameras will record any vehicle that illegally passes a stopped school bus when the stop sign is extended and red lights are flashing.
🚦 A Reminder to ALL Drivers:
✅ Stop when the bus stop-arm is out
✅ Stay alert in school zones and neighborhoods
✅ Protect our kids by following the law
A huge THANK YOU to The Mobel Foundation and our community partners for making this safety upgrade possible! Let’s work together to keep our students safe. Please share to spread the word!
🙏Behavior Expectations & After-School Detention
As we move through the school year, we’ve noticed an increase in behavior concerns, including students refusing to engage in learning, not completing educational tasks, using inappropriate language, and excessive phone use. To address this, we will be implementing after-school detention from 2:45-4:00 PM for any student who receives six or more infractions.
Please take a moment to talk with your child about making positive choices and staying focused. We know that everyone is getting antsy this time of year, but it’s important that we hold the line and continue to do our personal best each day. Thank you for your support in reinforcing these expectations at home!
👆We Need Substitute Teachers!
Our school is always in need of dedicated and reliable substitute teachers to support our students when teachers are away. If you or someone you know enjoys working with kids and has a passion for education, we’d love to have you join our team! Substituting is a great way to make a difference while maintaining a flexible schedule.
For more information on how to become a substitute teacher, please contact our office or visit www.sed.k12.in.us. Thank you for helping us create a strong learning environment for our students!

If your student is due for immunizations you should have received an email from me last week, which included registration information for the Spring Vaccine Clinic. However, if you are unsure of what your student might need, unsure of their immunization status, or have any other questions please feel free to contact me.

Food Safety & Fresh Ingredients: Addressing Meal Concerns
We understand that there have been some concerns regarding the use of raw products in our meals. As we continue incorporating fresh, high-quality ingredients into our menus, we recognize that some items may look or taste different from what students are accustomed to.
One common misconception is that color indicates doneness, when in fact, temperature is the safest measure. To provide more information and address any concerns, we encourage you to review this resource from the USDA. Please rest assured that our cafeteria staff are fully trained in food safety and follow the necessary protocols to keep the food we are serving safe.
Thank you for your continued support as we remain committed to providing nutritious, high-quality meals.
