Washington High School hosted “Coffee With The Mayor” on Tuesday morning, October 15, in the library. Washington Mayor Doug Hagedorn started the monthly event earlier this year as a way to have informal discussions with community residents and leaders about the city’s next generation of leaders — and what challenges and opportunities the future might present them. Washington Middle School Hosts Pink Out Basketball Game During School Day
Washington Middle School’s eighth grade girls basketball team hosted a pink out game against Hermann during the school day on Thursday, October 10. The event helped spread awareness of breast cancer and showed support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Click here for the story.

WINGS Awards Jackie Kraft Early Bird Teacher Grants
The WINGS Foundation awarded 19 Jackie Kraft Early Bird teacher grants this fall (2024) and one Larry Tobben Fine Arts Early Bird grant. WINGS offers educators in the School District of Washington the opportunity to apply for the WINGS Educator Grant to fund innovation, technology or other opportunities to improve instruction for students in the District. Pride of Washington Marching Blue Jays Perform at Band Festival
The 56th Annual Washington High School (Gene Hunt) Marching Band Festival took place on Saturday, October 5. The festival featured a field competition at WHS. There was no parade. As the hosts, the Pride of Washington Marching Blue Jays gave an exhibition performance. They were not eligible for awards. More details can be found here.

Teaching Careers Program Hosts Kids Night Out Event on Friday, November 15
The Teaching Careers Program will hold a Kids Night Out event at Four Rivers Career Center on Friday, November 15, from 6-8 p.m. Drop your kids (ages 3-12 and potty trained) at the main entrance of Four Rivers Career Center between 5:45-6 p.m. More details can be found here.
