MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear CMS Families,
With a heavy heart, I write my last "Notes from the Middle." While I am looking forward to my new position as principal of Chardon High School, the decision to leave CMS was very difficult because this school is such a special place. As I told the staff today during our end of year staff meeting, "one, two, or three people do not make this place what it is. It is ALL the staff in this building."
For some of your students, I look forward to having them again next year at CHS, and for the next three years, I will welcome familiar faces. It has been truly heartwarming to receive so many well wishes and "I am going to miss you" messages this past week.
It was very difficult to keep up with the events of the last week of school. I am sure your student(s) came home exhausted and hopefully talked highly of all the fun activities their teachers planned for them. A big THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered their time during the day to help support our end-of-year festivities.
Enjoy your summer, and if you need anything, I will be available at CMS until the end of June. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for all your support over the years. ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!
Mr. Tomco

CURRENT 4th-6th GRADERS
Hello CMS families!
Over the past few weeks, the school counselors and school administration have been preparing for the 2024-25 school year. One of the most challenging steps in this process is ensuring students are placed in the proper content courses and “specials'' requests are fulfilled.
Next week, students, currently in grades 4, 5, and 6, will be provided a copy of their proposed course requests for NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. This course request form identifies the courses in which your child will be placed for their academic classes in addition to his or her requested “specials” courses. Please review the CMS Course Description / Scheduling Guide for academic placement criteria.
Remember that these are requests for specials classes and not every one of them will be able to be honored. The alternate course selection should also be reviewed and considered to prepare for this situation. If no requests are listed, please use the “Schedule Change Request” link below.
At CMS, our master schedule is built to closely align with the requests that we receive, as well as students’ academic placement. We always strive to maintain efficiency in operations and build the master schedule to maximize staffing in order to meet students’ needs, create opportunities, and control expenses. Given this, requests need to be carefully considered as this is the second and final opportunity for parents to review class placements and specials requests for next year. If there are no changes needed, simply discard the form.
If you believe your child is not placed appropriately, or if you would like to change your child’s “specials” requests, please click HERE
To guarantee we are able to process these submissions, we ask that all requests be submitted by Thursday, May 30, 2024.. After this date any changes will be contingent upon space availability.
Any further questions should be directed to the appropriate 24-25 School Counselor:
