The MMES Buzz
News from Manchester Memorial Elementary School!
June 13, 2025
Principal's Note
Dear MMES Families,
How is it possible that I am sitting here writing the final newsletter of the 24-25 school year!?!? It was a year filled with so much growth for our students, staff, and community. Our students worked hard everyday and were guided expertly by educators and parents to realize their potential. The most important lessons are the ones that went beyond academics and taught our young students how to be good people and good friends. We are thankful for each of them and for each of you!
A shoutout goes to Mr. Boria and his army of volunteers who put together an amazing field day, cookout, and enrichment program! It truly does take a village and the kids had a wonderful day! Check out the photos below...a perfect day for an iconic event - elementary school field day!
Have a great summer if I don't see you before we break next week!
Best,
John

Enrichment at Memorial - Potato Hill Poetry
Last week, our students in 1st through 5th grade enjoyed a writing workshop with Andrew Green from Potato Hill Poetry. Andrew loves to spark passion for poetry in children and his program is devoted to demonstrating the power of word, sound and rhythm coming together. This enrichment program was generously sponsored by The Hooper Fund.
Front Office Update
My heart is full after a wonderful year with your children. Thank you for sharing them with us and for the wonderful ways that your family have brightened our school. I look forward to seeing your family at the beach and music in the park!
What's the Buzz with Ms. X
Oh MMES Family! What a year it has been. I am so proud and honored to be a member of this community and this was asuch a fantastic year filled with fun and exciting growth. To all our 5th Graders and their fantastic Families – thank you and good luck! I can’t wait to see how you all grow and what you do in the coming years. To our returning students – I can’t wait to see you all in the fall and hear about your summers!
Some tips for a successful Summer:
- Create some semblance of a schedule (and visually if you can!) Keep routines (as much as possible; meal and bed times) even when on vacations.
- Make plans and have fun!
- Get outside! (Wear your helmet, never swim alone, make sure your adults know where you are)
- Build connections – within your family, with friends, or by making new friends!
Whatever you do this summer, I wish you all happiness, good health, and plenty of fun & relaxation. – Ms. X

Wishing You a Healthy and Happy Summer! ☀️
As we wrap up the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support and partnership in keeping our students healthy and safe. It has been a true joy to watch your children grow, learn, and thrive this year. As we head into summer, here are a few reminders to help your family stay healthy and well during the break:
Stay hydrated- Drink plenty of fluids, especially during outside play.
Sun safety- Apply sunscreen, wear sun protection clothing, and take breaks in the shade.
Stay active- Biking, swimming, outdoor fun- Be safe and wear your helmets!
Physicals- Schedule annual physicals, dental visits, and any necessary vaccinations before the new school year.
Medication Plans- If your child will need medication while at school (epi-pen, inhaler, scheduled medication) or a health care plan at school next year, please reach out early to get a head start on necessary paperwork.
Physicals- Upon returning in the 2025-2026 school year, physicals & immunization records will be due for all new students, grades 1, and 4. Physicals expire from one year of last visit.
Wishing you all a safe, healthy, and relaxing summer break! Thank you for trusting me to care for your children this year-it has been a truly amazing year getting to know all of them!

The Kids PMC Ride Was a HUGE Success! What an incredible day at the Kids PMC Ride at Masconomo Park on June 1st! Thanks to our amazing students, staff, and families, this year’s event was a record-breaker — and an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Over 50 student riders showed up ready to roll, bringing big energy, big heart, and even bigger smiles. They rode with purpose — raising money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and supporting the mission of the Pan-Mass Challenge to end cancer. And they did it with style, decked out in PMC sponsor event gear. . Staff, parents, and community volunteers — over 40 strong — kept things running smoothly, from setting up tents to leading ride groups to running fun activities like the bouncy house, raffle, and helmet art station. It was a true team effort! Some major highlights: Thousands of dollars raised — likely a new record! Over 25 local businesses sponsored and donated to make the day a success Hundreds of people contributed time, energy, and support We even had a special visit from PMC founder and chairman Billy Starr! And yes… the weather was perfect! Our kids made us proud — not just by riding, but by fighting cancer in their own way. And thanks to your support, their efforts will ripple far beyond just one Sunday.
Stay tuned for more bike safety and event content coming in 2025-2026!!
