SHS SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS
-Senior Leterence Fleming: Track Star in the Making
Senior Leterence Fleming completed an undefeated regular season in the 300 intermediate hurdles and was ranked by Milesplit.com as one of the top three hurdlers in the state.
Leterence dominated the regional championship with a 1st place finish. He also won the GHSA Region 4-AAA Championship Male High Point Award. He went on to win the GHSA sectionals and finished in the top 6 at the state meet which earned him GHSA all-state honors. During the season, Leterence also competed in the Archer New Balance National Invitational in the 400 intermediate hurdles taking 2nd place with a time of 55.2 sec. which ranked him in the top ten 400-meter-high school hurdlers in the United States.
This past summer he continued this dominance by winning the USATF 17-18 Georgia State Junior Olympics Championship in the 400 intermediate hurdles as well as winning the USATF 17-18 age group Regional Junior Olympics Championship. This qualified Leterence to compete at the 2024 USATF National Junior Olympics that was held at Texas A&M University in July. He finished in sixth place overall with a personal best time of 54.3 sec. in the 400-meter hurdles event and is now recognized as USATF National Track & Field All-American going into his senior year.
We very proud of all of Leterence's accomplishments this past track season and we look forward to seeing him go the distance this year!
