A Message from Mr. Ryder
Dear Overlook Families,
I am excited to share some upcoming events happening at Overlook Elementary this 2nd half of October! First, we will be hosting our annual Character Dress-Up and Fall Parties on October 31st. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favorite book, and classroom parties will follow with seasonal treats and activities. Additionally, Picture Makeup Day is scheduled for October 29th. If your child missed the original picture day, this is their opportunity to have their photo taken.
Our 2nd-grade students will also be taking a walking field trip to Wadsworth High School on October 23rd. Finally, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week from October 21st to 25th, promoting drug and alcohol awareness and prevention. See below for more details and events.
We look forward to these fun and engaging events that celebrate the spirit of fall and community at Overlook Elementary. As always, please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryder, Principal

Character Dress Up and Fall Parties
Our annual character dress-up day parade and classroom parties will be held on Thursday, October 31st for preschool through 4th grade.
Guidelines:
- Students may wear their costumes for the day if they are not disruptive or prevent them from sitting or moving safely. If students need to change into their costumes before the parade, they should be able to change independently or with little assistance.
- Costumes should be school-appropriate, with no violence, weapons, or blood.
- The parade order is kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grade.
- Parents and family members are welcome to come to watch the parade outside of the building.
Parade and Party Schedule
- Students will begin lining up for the parade at 2:10 p.m.
- The parade will start at 2:20 p.m.
- Classroom parties will follow immediately after the parade.
We look forward to seeing all of the creative character costumes!

2024-25 Overlook T-shirts
It's Overlook t-shirt time again! Due to rising t-shirt costs, we are asking each family to contribute $5 a shirt per child. The PTO will cover the rest of the cost. We understand this might not be possible for every family. If you need assistance, please indicate so at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, if you would like to send any extra money to help cover other students, that would be greatly appreciated too.
Please complete this form. If you have multiple children, please fill out one for each!
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week will take place October 21-25.
Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. During Red Ribbon Week, youth and adults around the nation pledge to increase their knowledge by learning more about the destructive effects of drug abuse, including prescription drug misuse, and renew their commitment to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
2nd Grade Walking Trip to WHS
The 2nd grade will be walking to Wadsworth High School on October 23 th to hear the WHS Fall Choir Concert. Please complete this form granting permission.

Here is what the student handbook says:

We appreciate your help in following this policy.

Our secretary, Mrs. Jira, is the contact person for calling off your student and any change of dismissal plans throughout the day. Please call the attendance line at 330-335-1424 and leave a message with any changes BEFORE school starts. If you need to make changes after 9:00 am, please call the main line at 330-335-1420. We recommend you let Mrs. Jira and your child's teacher know when your student will be absent, leaving early, or arriving late.
