Magness Creek Elementary
Week of October 28, 2024
Thank you so much for coming to Parent-Teacher Conferences last week! We really appreciate your support in our students' lives! Together everyone achieves more (TEAM)! 🤩
It is Red Ribbon Week--join us as we celebrate making Really Excellent Decisions! Please see the graphic of dress up days for the week attached to this newsletter in order to make this week even more special.
Third and fourth grades will take an ATLAS English interim Tuesday morning. This interim assessment will be set up like the ATLAS state summative assessment scheduled in the spring. It will be good practice, and we will use the data from the interim to plan instruction and next steps for our students.
We have collected over 300 food items for our K-Kids Food Drive. Tomorrow is the last day to get those in for our students and our school food pantry. 🥫
Magness Creek students are making tremendous progress with our Lexia reading program. Each grade level has at least 90% of their students making usage progress each week. Here are the instructions again of how to access this program at home:
Go to https://www.lexiacore5.com/.
You may have to use your child’s teacher email to log in if you do not immediately see a screen for username and password for student.
Use your child’s Student ID for the username and password.
The Dairy Queen Run for Magness Creek has been set for this Friday at the Cabot High School home football game. All Magness Creek students will be admitted to the football game for free and will receive a silicone bracelet that can be redeemed at Dairy Queen for a free ice cream cone. There is more info below under the Events section. Hope to see you there!
ATLAS Summative Reports
Dear Parents/Guardians of Students in Grade 4,
We are reaching out to provide more information on how to access and interpret your child's ATLAS test scores. Last week, we mentioned that you would soon receive a Parent Code for this purpose. You will enter the information as it appears on your parent information sheet. The student’s legal first name must be entered. In the past, the state has provided paper copies of test results. However, parents will now have ongoing access to testing results via the parent portal.
This spring, students took a new state assessment called ATLAS. This test is administered in different subjects depending on your child’s grade level:
English Language Arts (ELA): Grades 3-10
Science and Math: Grades 3-8
What to Expect in the ATLAS Scores: Your child will receive an overall score for each subject they were tested in. In addition, they will be assessed in individual subsets, which you can view on the parent portal. These subsets offer a more detailed look at your child's performance in specific areas of each subject.
Upcoming Summative Assessments: The final summative assessments for this school year will be held in April or May. In the meantime, you can see when your child takes an interim assessment. These interim tests will provide an ongoing measure of your child’s progress as they work toward the summative assessment.
If your student took the DLM assessment, you will receive these results at conferences.
If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the parent portal, please feel free to contact your child’s school.

In order to volunteer at Magness Creek, you will need to complete a background check every year and have Hallway Hero training once in your lifetime. Please call the office at (501)743-3565 or email your Hallway Hero interest to amy.morrow@cps.k12.ar.us or michelle.atherton@cps.k12.ar.us. We want the Hallway Hero piece to be easy and convenient for our families.
