Hello to Our 8th Grade Families!

The FFMS PTA will hold the 8th grade Social on Thursday, September 12th! Students will remain after school for the social which will be held in the cafeteria. Student pick up will be at the back of the building in the car rider lane by the gym at 6:00 pm. The event will be advertised on the morning announcements, on our website, and at "Bucky Connects" on Instagram. Please carefully review the permission form for additional details. Hard copies of the permission form will be sent home with students today, Friday, September 6th.

To attend, students must return a completed Permission Slip and bring in $5.00 cash on either Tuesday, September 10th or Thursday, September 12th during homeroom. No tickets will be sold at the door.

We are also asking for Parent Volunteers/Chaperones to help make this event a success for our students! To volunteer, please click on the link and select a job/time. 8th Grade Social - September 12, 2024 - Parent Volunteers!

This information is for 7th Grade families and for any students with expired immunization forms. An updated GA Form 3231 marked as "Complete for 7th - 10th Grade" is required for school attendance and must be submitted to the Five Forks Registrar immediately. To help improve your child's school, Gwinnett County Public Schools students in grades 3-12 will participate in the EES Student Wellness Screener during school this September. This confidential screening will provide our school and district staff with valuable data about students' academic, social, and emotional needs.

The results of the EES Student Screener will be used to identify students needing additional support in the areas of Academic Behaviors, Social Behaviors, and Emotional Behaviors. The 22-item screener should take students less than 10 minutes for students to complete. You can view the Screener Questions on our website.

Parents may complete the Opt-Out process if they do not wish their student(s) to participate in the screener. Parents may use the Parent Portal to complete this process or send a written request to the school to opt their student(s) out of this survey. Please note that any parent or guardian wishing to opt their student out of the survey should complete the online form or inform the school in writing by August 30, 2024, before the scheduled screener to ensure that the student does not participate.

Five Forks Middle School students will be taking the EES the week of September 9-13, 2024.

This year's fall picture day will be Wednesday, September 18th. These pictures will also be the student Yearbook photos, so please make every effort for your child to be present at school on the 18th!

Our first quarter Bronco Store will take place on Thursday, October 3rd and Friday, October 4th, and we are in need of parent/guardian volunteers!

Bronco Store is when our students get to "cash-in" the Bronco Bucks they have earned for the quarter. It is a very fun and easy job for our adult volunteers! We will tell you all you need to know when you arrive at FFMS for your scheduled time. Our first Bronco Store will be in the media center. Just check in at the front office and they will give you directions. Come ready to have fun and see a lot of smiling faces!

The GCPS Caring Award aims to honor two outstanding students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels who have gone above and beyond in embodying the values of empathy, kindness, community engagement and leadership. We believe in acknowledging and celebrating the positive impact that our students make in the lives of those around them. There will be two district winners for 5th grade, 8th grade, and 12th grade.

Please complete the following for yourself or your nominee for the 2024-2025 FFMS Caring Award. A student that goes above and beyond and embodies the values of empathy, kindness, and community engagement. We encourage you to include detailed examples of the activities the student is doing.

Nominees/Applicants must be an 8th grader at FFMS during the 2024-2025 school year.

This form must be completed by Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 11:59pm to be considered. (NO Late Applications Accepted)

Judging of nominations and applications will take place October 7th - 15th for the local school FFMS Caring Award winner. The winner of the FFMS Caring Award will be announced on Friday, October 18th and will move on the district level Gwinnett County Public Schools Caring Award judging.

MyPaymentsPlus is OPEN for the 2024 - 2025 school year! Please take a moment to make sure you have:

1) Reviewed and signed-off on important documents

2) Made payments for specific contributions, etc.

3) Added money to your child's lunch account

While the vast majority of our families have access to Parent Square via email, we want to make you aware that there's also a Parent Square app available for download. It's an easy way to stay involved with your child's learning and activities at school, from anywhere, even when you're on the go! It provides a safe way for parents, teachers, principals, and even district administrators to receive and send information such as weather-related closings and delays and school and class information. It also gives you access to see calendar items and upcoming school and class activities and even share pictures and files. The app is a quick, convenient way to stay in touch with all things Five Forks!
