Hello Jefferson Leadership Academy (JLA) families and caregivers,

As we move into the fall, the JLA staff are grateful for the families who were able to join us at Back to School Night last week. The campus was full of activities, with classroom presentations, community organizations, and students helping others throughout the night. Our Girls' volleyball and flag Football teams will travel to Stephens for games on Monday. Jefferson will host the Girls' Volleyball and Flag Football Games, Washington vs. Jefferson, this Wednesday at 4:45 pm. We look forward to our Jaguars demonstrating positive sportsmanship on the courts and fields.

Morning and afternoon drop-offs are very busy on Euclid. Please help us keep our students safe at morning drop-off by letting your child out at the curb in front of the campus. Please do not double park or allow your student to walk into traffic to cross the street. Traffic is very busy on Euclid and is most congested between 7:40 and 7:55. To reduce traffic, consider using Mira Mar as your drop-off and pick-up location.

This year, we are supporting students with a college-going culture. One way to do this is through College Shirt Friday. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite college t-shirts to school each Friday. I hope to see a campus full of students in college t-shirts on Friday.

Here are a few highlights for this week at JLA:

Minimum Day Schedule: Tuesday 10/1 - 8:00-1:10 pm (High School BTSN)
Regular Day Schedule: Monday, Wednesday- Friday 8:00–2:40 pm
Gates Open: 7:25 am (Breakfast available)
College Shirt Friday: Students are encouraged to wear their college t-shirts or sweatshirts and uniform to school this Friday

Picking Up Students Early

When picking up your student before school dismissal, please plan to pick up your student before or after the lunch period. To support lunch supervision, all support staff are unavailable, and we will not be able to release students who are at lunch. Please plan ahead and pick up your student before or after lunch. This practice will begin on September 16, 2024.

Annual Verification- Please update your information

In order to communicate district news and information with families as best as possible, it is important that we have the most accurate and updated contact information on file for all of our students and families. This way, we can share good news, provide important updates, and even emergency notifications (if necessary) throughout the year. This information allows JLA to have accurate contact information in case of an emergency, release students to authorized adults on the emergency contact list, and provide funding for programs like afterschool enrichment and parent workshops.

We are asking that all families log in to their ParentVUE account and verify that all information is correct. If you need assistance, feel free to check out the video and text instructions we’ve provided at the links below, which will walk you through the verification process.

We are at 86% completion for annual verification, and we need 100% by September 30th to reach our goal. Please help us by updating your information in ParentVue.
