A message from the Principal - Mrs. Bookman
Dear Suffield Family,
We had an exciting week! Students thoroughly enjoyed shopping at the Santa Shop for their families. We thank Mrs. Roberts and all of her elves who helped to make it a great place for students to shop! We also could not have done it without all of the volunteers who came in to help during the week. I've heard from many that we have the best Santa Shop in the state of Ohio and I would agree!
Our holiday programs are next week on Thursday, December 19th! Brace yourselves for an evening of festive cheer as our talented 2nd graders take the stage at 6:00, followed by the captivating performance of our 4th graders at 7:00.
To ensure everyone enjoys the show without feeling crammed, we've thoughtfully divided the programs into two separate shows. For your convenience, we recommend parking in the rear of the school at the gravel car rider lot when the front is full. When parking, consider pulling in toward the fence or the grass to optimize the space and create a more efficient parking lot setup, deviating from the typical line arrangement.
For the parents of our fantastic 4th graders, we kindly request that you arrive no earlier than 6:50. This small adjustment allows ample time for the 2nd graders and their families to exit, freeing up additional parking spaces for your arrival. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable experience for everyone. Thank you for being part of our wonderful community!
Next week we have many special days planned. Be sure to check the schedule below!
Lastly, our Safer Future Drive is wrapping up on December 19th, and we need YOUR support to make it a resounding success. If you haven't had a chance to contribute yet, now is the perfect moment to lend a helping hand. Every donation, whether big or small, contributes to building a stronger and more resilient community.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Bookman

Gifts to those in Need
For our annual Christmas project, we will be collecting donations for Safer Futures home in Portage County. This is a short-term home for women and children of domestic violence. Often times the families are leaving a dangerous situation and have to leave the home very quickly without packing anything. Over the past few years, this organization has been so thankful for the donations that our students and families have made.
We are accepting donations of NEW items listed below :
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Trash bags
- Cleaning supplies
- Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, brushes, etc.)
- Small Blankets
- Pillows
- Toys
- PJs
- Socks
- Undies
- Books
- Mittens, gloves, hats
- Coloring books & crayons
- School supplies
Donations can be brought to school and placed in the foyer area. The collection ends on December 19.

Friendly reminder to check the Lost and Found when visiting our school!
We're thrilled to welcome you to our school, whether it's for a parent-teacher conference, a special event, or just to spend some time with your child's class. As you explore our wonderful learning environment, we wanted to take a moment to remind you about an important stop you can make while you're here - our Lost and Found!
Our Lost and Found is a treasure trove of forgotten items, from jackets and lunch boxes to water bottles and notebooks. Sometimes, the smallest and most valuable items end up there, waiting to be reunited with their owners. We encourage you to check the Lost and Found area located near the gym while you're visiting.
We also recommend labeling your child's items with their name and contact information to make it easier for us to return lost items promptly.
Outdoor Recess
Temperatures are starting to drop and we would like to pass along some details about recess, so you can plan accordingly. We will go out to recess if the temperature is above 20 degrees. We would like to remind parents that there are certain areas on the playground where snow boots are required and other areas where snow pants and boots are required during the winter months. If they do not wear the proper attire for these areas, they will have to stay on the blacktop area. Thank you in advance for your help.

Substitutes Needed
We are now hiring classified substitute workers for various roles, including Playground Monitors, Educational Aides, Cafeteria Workers, Secretarial Staff, Custodial Staff, Bus Aides, and Bus Drivers. A current BCI & FBI background check is required before applying for any substitute position. Some positions may also require an aide permit, which the Administration Office can help you obtain. You have the flexibility to work the hours that suit you, and you'll be on call to cover for regular employees. For more details or assistance with the application process, please contact Bev Bable at the Administration Office beverly.bable@fieldlocalschools.org.
Birthday Treats
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Suffield CARES
Suffield CARES helps provide “short-term emergency needs” to families in Suffield. If you are in danger of having your electric or heat terminated, being evicted or have other emergency needs, call Mrs. Bookman at school or Chief Rasnick at (330)628-9240.
