It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already upon us! I am very thankful for all of the students and staff at Surrarrer. There are so many great things happening every day! Surrarrer is a special place and I am grateful to have a front row seat to everything! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Ohio Museums-4th Grade
Free Fourth Grade History Pass for Ohio museums- Every fourth grade student in Ohio will have the opportunity to visit participating history-related museums and sites free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult through Aug. 31, 2025. The program aims to cultivate curiosity in young minds in anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Surrarrer Giving Tree
The Surrarrer Student council will be supporting the Strongsville Food Bank again this year by setting up the annual Giving Tree. Please pick a tag off the giving tree, buy the items on the tag and bring it back unwrapped with the tag taped to the gift. Have your child place the unwrapped gift under the tree in the front lobby!

5th Grade D.A.R.E Ice Skating Party
Explorer Club
Attention local 4th, 5th and 6th graders! You’re invited to discover Polaris and explore careers through their 2nd Annual Explorer Club. This after-school adventure features fun, hands-on classes taught by their very own instructors.
The next session will take place on December 3-4 and 10-11 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The program fee is $60, which includes two classes and all class materials. There is also an optional early drop-off at 4:00 p.m. each day featuring BONUS career exploration activities.
Classes promise to fill up quickly so interested students and families are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible at www.polaris.edu/explorerclub.
The Explorer Club class lineup includes the following exciting options: Anatomy Academy; CAD Creators: 3D-Printing & Design; Design & Press: Custom T-Shirts; Drone Masters; Glamour Me; Pencils to Pixels; Rescue 911; Sweet Holiday Kitchen; The Art of Cooking; Tool Time and Virtual Reality Winter Wonderland.

Penguin Patch Holiday Shop
Our Holiday Shop will be open December 10-12! The kids are going to be so eager to secretly shop for
everyone on their list. A holiday shop is a fantastic way for kids to earn money -- making beds, feeding
pets, and helping siblings are just a few ideas. Our school volunteers are starting to get everything
ready... we love this tradition!

Birthday Book Club is Back!
The Surrarrer Birthday Book Club is an opportunity to donate a book to the Surrarrer Media Center in honor of your child's birthday. This is a special way birthday present for your child and a wonderful way to teach the importance of books! Learn the basics of Adobe InDesign, the industry-leading layout and page design software for print and digital media. It can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, presentations, books and eBooks. InDesign can also publish content suitable for tablet devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
Southwest General Health Talk: Nourish Your Mind, Body, & Soul. Wednesday, December 11th / 10:00 a.m.
Food can have a transformative effect on our lives, beyond just satisfying our hunger. It can influence our mood, energy levels, and quality of life, as well as our mental and emotional states. It can also bring people together, evoke feelings of comfort or nostalgia, and be part of celebrations. Join us for this special Southwest General Health Talk. Judy Steffes; MS, RDN, LD, will discuss heart healthy diet and looks at good diet and meal preparation ideas to help people eat healthy for body, mind and soul.

Have you ever thought about recording your own music, making a video, digitizing memories and more? The Strongsville Branch Library is home to both Audio and Video Recording studios that can help you do just that! You must go through an orientation to use the spaces. Patrons 11 & up can participate in the orientation and must turn in the User Agreement form at the branch for the orientation to count. Register online to attend the virtual session.

Sewing Basics for Adults. Wednesday, December 18th / 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Learn the basics of using a sewing machine and get a hands-on opportunity to create a simple project. All materials and equipment are provided. No prior experience necessary. Registration is required.

School Fees
As a reminder, all school fees that have not been paid are now considered past due. To check the balance and pay outstanding school fees, go to Pay Schools Central by clicking HERE. In addition to Pay Schools Central, school fees can be paid by cash/check to your student’s building secretary or with the Treasurer's Office. If you have questions related to this, please contact the building secretary or Melissa LePage (mlepage@scsmustangs.org) within the Treasurer's Department. As we are approaching a new school year, as well as the start of fall sports, per Board of Education policy, the consequences for outstanding prior year school fees will prohibit students from participating in any school extracurricular activities (i.e., athletics, student council, school clubs, etc.), field trips, and school sanctioned dances / events that require a purchased ticket.
