Heather Peeke, Executive Director of Secondary Education, presented an update related to the Cell Phone policy. Students, staff, and parents have expressed an understanding for the need of some type of limitation as it relates to cell phones.
There have been very few violations of the policy and appears to have led to a decrease in overall student discipline vs this time last year.
Board Committee Assignments (10.1)
The Board of Education discussed the composition of the Board subcommittees. They reiterated the message that parent and patron involvement makes our district stronger.
This committee system aims to increase the involvement of board members and patrons in school district affairs. When given a reasonable degree of freedom to act and contribute, most people work better, more enthusiastically, and at a higher level of motivation. When effective, the participative leadership style of the committee structure can establish a work climate in which people's potential power is unleashed.
