April 7, 2025
Dear Huskie Community,
I hope you had a terrific spring break and are ready for these last two months. Teachers will be resetting academic and behavior expectations in each of their specific classes this week. This morning, I read the message below over the PA summarizing our 'big 4' behavior expectations to ensure all of our students are on the same page:
Good morning, Huskies!
Welcome back from break. As we head into the final stretch of the school year, your teachers will be reviewing some key expectations to help us finish strong.
Here are four big areas we’ll be focusing on:
- Attendance and Tardies – Be in class and be on time. Every period counts, and after 10 absences, you may not receive credit for assignments unless you're physically present on the due date.
- Cell Phones – Phones should be in the classroom phone jail or away during class. If you're using the restroom, your phone stays behind. And remember: phones out during or after a test equals an academic integrity violation.
- Hall Passes – Only one student out at a time. You need both a MINGA pass and a physical pass, and again, no phones in the hallway.
- Academic Integrity – Do your own work. Misuse of AI, copying, sharing docs, or cheating will lead to serious consequences — including lost privileges and awards.
Posters with these reminders are around the building, and staff will be helping us stay on track. Let’s lock in and finish the year the right way. Thanks, and let’s have a great April and May!
Thank you for your support in reinforcing these expectations with your students at home. Regarding morning drop off, our expectation is that students be dropped off before 7:30 to ensure timely arrival to first period.
One final reminder that we have testing this week. Details are below but here are some highlights:
Wednesday, April 9: Juniors take the SAT (9, 10, & 12 do not attend). It is not a late arrival. Students should arrive at 7:45 as usual. Busses will depart at 12:45 & 3:15.
Thursday, April 10: Freshmen take the PreACT Secure and Sophomores take the PreACT 10 Secure. (11 & 12 do not attend). Students arrive at 7:45. Busses depart at 11:45 & 2:05.
Go Huskies!!
Sincerely,
Jay Wachtel
