Pioneer Press
November 1st, 2024
Hello and Happy Friday Pioneers!
We had a great, albeit short week here, with lots of opportunities for students to participate in events like Red Ribbon week, our parade and assembly, library projects, and all the extra-curricular events we have here on campus. We are working on Sense of Belonging as a building goal, and our community really showed how much everyone is a part of our campus this week. From our Diwali table to our Dia de los Muertos ofrenda, to literary characters, to our daily initiatives to make Healthy Choices, we all contributed to a wonderful week of celebration.
Yearbook Cover Contest Winner
Congratulations to Wesley Bassett for his amazing yearbook cover! Wesley's flying astronaut captured the idea of "Soaring to New Heights in Learning" (this year's staff theme) well. We had SOOOOO many great entries this year; it was tough to select just one. We appreciate all of you who contributed your artwork this year. Great job artists!
PBIS Assembly
On 10/31 we had a PBIS assembly to recognize individual students who exemplify how to be Safe at PSE. "Be Safe" is one of our 3 B’s. At each assembly throughout the year we will award students who are role models at following the 3 B’s. Students have been nominated by staff and will receive a certificate and special 3B keychain. We are so excited for this new initiative and so proud of our 3B award winners!!
Literary Character Parade
On 10/31 we celebrated literary characters with a dress up parade of book characters. everyone looked GREAT, and we were so excited to see the creativity of the costumes! Than kyou to those who were able to come and cheer on our student and staff as they paraded their imagination for our community; we loved the love from y'all! RRISD was here filming our parade and the assembly, and put together a cute video about our parade to sha on RRISD Social Media. Here is the Youtube link for your viewing enjoyment:
Our Dia de los Muertos ofrenda
We had so many contributions of those who have passed on to celebrate and remember.
Celebrating Diwali
Diwali is a Festival of Light, and we appreciate being able to share in the well wishes of this important cultural celebration. Thank you to Mrs. Shah for her Rangoli contribution; beautiful!!

In case your kiddos are interested in the clock change, HERE is an interesting article about the how and why of daylight savings time.
Trunk or Treat Photo
Check out this cool pic of last week's Trunk or Treat! Great attendance!
Lunch Visitors on 11/6 and 11/7
Due to the 4th grade singing program risers on our stage, we will not have space for lunch visitors on 11/6 or 11/7. We appreciate your understanding and will see you again on 11/8!
Underwear Needed!!
The Pond Springs Elementary Health Clinic would love any donations of unopened packages of underwear (child sizes XS-L). Accidents can happen everyday, at every age. Thank you for helping students feel comfortable here at school, and keeping the clinic stocked for those unexpected moments!
Veterans' Day
November 11 is when we honor our veterans who have served in our armed forces. Many of us have family members or friends who have sacrificed to serve and protect our country. Because of their willingness to serve in the capacity outlined above, PSE will be presenting Salute! A Veterans Day Program on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 6:00 PM. The fourth grade students have been busy preparing the music and various presentation aspects of this show, designed to show our gratitude and appreciation for all of our veterans and current service members. Please see Mr. Bennett's final preparation message HERE.

*Toilet paper / paper towel rolls
*Tissue boxes

Choir Performance at the Austin Spurs Game
Do you love to hear our PSE students sing and perform? Do you enjoy spending time with your families and making memories? If you said yes to one or both these things we have the perfect opportunity for you! On Friday, November 15, 2024 the PSE Cosmic Chorale will be performing "America the Beautiful" at an Austin Spurs game. We would love to have you join us to cheer on the Spurs as well as support our performers!
This event will be a PSE Spirit Night. For every ticket purchased, $3 will be kicked back to our PSE PTA! The PTA does so much to support our school, students, and staff, so let's do what we can to show our appreciation for their many efforts by purchasing some tickets to attend the game. Ticket info and pricing can be found here. See you there!
PTA Winter Carnival
PTA is looking for volunteers to help with the Winter Carnival. We know it takes a lot of work and a diversity of needed talent, so there is something for everyone. Please sign up ot help with Winter Carnival HERE, and look for more information soon!
We're Going to a Hockey Game!!
Each year we attend a Texas Stars Hockey Game on the Sunday of MLK weekend for a PSE Spirit Night. It is the only 5:00 pm game on their schedule, and we're off of school to celebrate MLK the following day. Our PE curriculum allows us to teach hockey skills the week before and after the game, which is super exciting and fun for ALL! The link for tickets is HERE, and we will include the flyer in the next Tuesday folder and attach it to this email. The QR code is easy to use, and we are aiming to be the highest selling group for the third year in a row.
