PARKER WEEKLY BULLETIN
Week of 2-10-2025
Message from Principal Blagg
Good afternoon Parker Families:
We had another very busy week at Parker. The students were treated to a fabulous assembly highlighting Coach Nick, a professional jump roper. The show was entertaining and fun but also brought with it the message of following one's passion with commitment and diligence in order to achieve excellence. Our first snow day of the year was, I'm sure, met with joy from our students and groans from the parents! I hope that the day was spent with family and friends safely.
SOUPER Bowl - February 3rd through 7th - Food Drive extended through February 12
We have had a successful return of our annual Souper Bowl food drive that directly benefits families in need in our community. All food donations will go directly to the Chelmsford Food Pantry. Many in our community are struggling with food insecurity and any help that we, as a school community, can provide is tremendously appreciated. Please see below for specific items of which the food pantry is in particular need. This drive continues Parker's commitment to service learning and empowering our students to realize the positive difference they can make in their community. As a result of our snow day yesterday, we have decided to extend the drive through Wednesday February 12.
Parker Artists of the Month
We are proud to announce the Parker Artists of the Month: Alexandra Provencher for Grade 5 and Aria Fisher for grade 6. Both students have impressed Ms. Annunziata with their creativity, passion, and skill. We are so proud of you!
STEM Fair - March 27
We are excited to announce Parker's first STEM Fair (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) on March 27. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to embrace inquiry and investigation in a fun and supportive setting. Students are encouraged to work in teams, pairs, or individually. More information can be found below.
Second Step - Social Emotional Learning Curriculum
Our students continued with our SEL Curriculum with Grade five continuing their unit on Emotion Management and our sixth graders began a new unit on Developing a Positive Sense of Self. Please see a summary of the lesson as well as a conversation starter to continue the learning at home.
Grade 5: What Can I Change?
Summary
In this week’s lesson, your child will practice identifying things that a person can or can’t change in a recurring situation that causes them to feel a strong emotion. Then they will focus on the things that can be changed to recommend something the person could think or do differently to manage their emotions in the future.
Try This at Home
Ask your child if there’s anything coming up at school that makes them feel a strong emotion, like nervous, frustrated, or stressed. Ask them what they could think or do differently to make the situation easier to handle.
Grade 6: What are Guiding Principles?
Summary:
This week’s lesson will introduce your child to guiding principles—the things that are most important to people that help them make decisions. Your child will learn about 10 common guiding principles and discuss how guiding principles can help them understand behavior, including their own.
Question:
Tell your child about something important to you that you consider one of your guiding principles. Ask them to name some guiding principles that they found interesting or feel strongly about.
Have a great week everyone. Please reach out if you need support.
Josh

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS & ACTIVITIES & LATE BUSES
Our after-school programs will start on Tuesday, October 15th. The Activity Fee is $50 per student. To pay PLEASE CLICK ON LINK My School Bucks or send in cash or checks made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools and turn into your child's homeroom teacher. The activity fee allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure students take the correct bus home. Since we only have 8 late buses, for both McCarthy and Parker the stops tend to be more spread out than the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.
