Hello Bush Families!
Our Bobcats got to shop at the Bush Buch school store today, and it was a blast! Thank you to our counselors, Mrs. McCure and Mrs. McGhee for organizing this event for our students, and to our amazing parent volunteers who ran the store today! A special thanks also to the families who contributed items from our Amazon Wish List. We are lucky to have such a supportive community.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Go Bobcats!

A few times a year, students get to spend their Bush Bucks on prizes at our school store. If you would like to donate to our school store, please visit our Amazon Wish List! Thank you for your donations! The students love visiting our school store.
GT Referral Window
Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing Referral requests are now open for the Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. Referrals will be accepted October 1- December 19, 2024. You can request a referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage linked here.

Classroom Counseling Lessons
Kindergarten talked about personal space and read the book Harrison P. Spader - Personal Space Invader. We also learned about taking deep breaths by practicing Take Five and worked on understanding that we all have emotions.
1st - First Grade reviewed that we all have emotions, and emotions are okay. We have been reading The Feelings Train and learning that sometimes we have many emotions at once so naming the emotion can help us overcome the emotion. We are practicing the Take Five to help us feel calm.
2nd Grade - Second grade read In My Heart and discussed the many different feelings we may have. Students learned that all feelings are ok and feelings change often. We also practiced identifying feelings clues in our bodies and practiced calming strategies like Take Five Breathing.
3rd Grade - Third graders worked on identifying feelings and character traits of all the characters in Goldilocks and The Three Bears. We discussed the difference between positive and negative character traits and how our actions may affect others’ feelings.
4th Grade - The topic of our 4th Grade lesson was Thoughts/Feelings/Actions. We discussed how it’s the thoughts in our heads that lead to our feelings and how those feelings may affect our actions. We also practiced replacing unhelpful thoughts with helpful thoughts to influence the way we feel and make better choices with our actions.
Feel free to contact your grade-level counselor with any questions you may have regarding the counseling lessons.
