A Note from the Office
This time of year brings joy and excitement, but it can also feel hectic and overwhelming for both children and adults. As routines shift and the energy around us changes, kids may experience a wide range of emotions—excitement, frustration, or even stress.
At school, we strive to provide a consistent and supportive environment to help students navigate these feelings. At home, you can help by creating moments of calm, sticking to routines as much as possible, and encouraging open conversations about what your child might be feeling.
Together, we can make this season a time of growth, connection, and joy for everyone. Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
We would like to bring attention to THIS sign up genius (which can also be found below in the PCC section of the Press). Give if you can!
Be well,
Evan Chelman, Principal

Report Cards: December 11
As you may know, we use the ASPEN porthole to access student report cards and progress reports. These will be accessible on December 14, so why am I writing to you about them now? I want all families to be ready with their ASPEN logins and passwords by December 14. So here is what you can do now:
Your child(s) report card WILL BE available in your Parent Portal. Once you log in it will be listed as a PDF link under the “Published Reports” section on the right-hand side.
You must use a desktop or laptop computer to be able to view the report cards, the PDF will not appear on mobile devices.
Your LoginID/User name is the email you gave the school as your contact email (enter it in all lowercase).
If you do not know your password, please click the 'I forgot my password' link on the login page. If you are unable to reset your password please send an email to aspenpasswords@franklinps.net
The URL for Aspen is: https://ma-franklin.myfollett.com/
Report Cards will be electronically delivered on December 14 (see directions so you're ready below). Discussing your child's report card is an opportunity to offer support, celebrate achievements, and address areas that may need improvement. Here's a guide on how to approach this conversation, keeping in mind that the conversation looks different for a fifth-grader vs. a kindergartener:
**1. Choose the Right Time and Place:**
- Find a quiet and comfortable setting where you can have an uninterrupted conversation. Choose a time when both you and your child are calm and focused.
**2. Begin Positively:**
- Start the conversation on a positive note by acknowledging your child's efforts and successes. Highlight specific achievements and areas where they have done well.
**3. Express Pride and Encouragement:**
- Communicate your pride in your child's hard work and commitment to learning. Let them know that you appreciate their efforts, regardless of the grades.
**4. Discuss Areas for Improvement:**
- If there are areas that need improvement, approach the conversation with sensitivity. Focus on specific behaviors or study habits rather than placing blame. Use "I" statements to express concerns, e.g., "I noticed that..."
- Collaborate on setting realistic goals for improvement.
**5. Offer Support:**
- Reassure your child that everyone has strengths and areas for growth. Emphasize that mistakes are opportunities to learn and improve. Let them know you are there to support and help.
**6. Create a Plan Together:**
- Work together to create a plan for improvement. This could include setting realistic goals, establishing a consistent homework routine, or seeking additional support from teachers.
**7. Focus on Effort and Progress:**
- Reinforce the idea that effort and progress are more important than perfection. Encourage a growth mindset by emphasizing the value of learning from challenges.
**8. Communicate with Teachers:**
- If necessary, schedule a meeting with your child's teacher(s) to gain additional insights and strategies for improvement. Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
**9. End on a Positive Note:**
- Conclude the conversation on a positive and hopeful note. Remind your child that you believe in their abilities and that you are confident in their capacity to succeed.
Remember that the goal is to foster a positive and open dialogue about learning. Encourage a sense of responsibility and a love for learning rather than focusing solely on grades.
Putting for Patients
Connect 4 Cancer is a club at FHS that raises funds and awareness for cancer. On December 14th, we are partnering with Jimmy Fund to put on a mini-golf event with an 18-hole mini-golf course, food, a raffle, face painting, and more! All of the proceeds from this will go to pediatric cancer research.

A Statement from the Joint PCC
The executive boards of the PCCs from Jefferson, Keller, Kennedy, Oak, and Parmenter have been working together to establish the best structure for the PCCs at the North and South complexes for the upcoming year.
We are excited to announce that we have reached a unanimous decision: there will be one PCC per complex, with executive board representation for both the K-2 and 3-5 schools. While the specific structure of the executive board is still being finalized, we are confident that consolidating to one PCC per complex will allow us to manage a unified budget to support both the K-2 and 3-5 schools. As decisions are made in the coming months regarding the executive board structure, we will be sure to keep our families informed. Discussions are also ongoing regarding the finances for the two new PCCs. We have agreed that funds from each current PCC will be allocated based on the percentage of students transferring to each complex, ensuring that resources follow the students. We want to emphasize the importance of fundraising this school year, as it will help ensure the success of the new PCCs in the years ahead. We are deeply grateful to our families for their continued support as we navigate the final year in our current schools and prepare for this exciting new chapter next year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school's PCC executive board. We are all dedicated to supporting our families in any way we can.
