May News
Dear Cook Hill Families,
Welcome to May—our final full month of the 2024–2025 school year! It’s hard to believe we’re in the home stretch, and we’re thrilled to celebrate all the learning, laughter, and growth that has taken place so far. As we enter this exciting time of year, we want to thank you for being such vital partners in your child’s educational journey. There is so much happening at school this month, and we hope all students who are well enough to attend will be with us every day to experience the joy and momentum of May!
This month is packed with events, celebrations, and meaningful learning opportunities. We kicked off Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week on May 5th, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible team we have here at Cook Hill. Their dedication, creativity, and compassion shine through each and every day. Thank you to our families for the many ways you’re helping us show them just how appreciated they are!
We are especially excited to welcome our families to some favorite end-of-year traditions. On May 16th, we’ll come together for our End-of-Year Picnic—a time to relax, connect, and enjoy the sunshine with our school community. Later this month, we’ll also host our much-anticipated Field Day, where students will participate in a full day of fun, physical activity, and celebration. It’s always a joyful highlight, and we can’t wait to cheer on our Cougars!
As we approach the finish line, we continue to nurture a growth mindset in all of our students. Each day is an opportunity to learn something new, face a challenge with courage, and support one another with kindness. Our end-of-year benchmark assessments will begin the week of May 5th, and these will help us better understand each child’s academic and social-emotional progress. We use this information to support students now and as they move forward into next year.
The week of May 5th also marks Screen-Free Week, a time to step away from devices and reconnect with the world around us. We invite all families to participate in our Screen-Free Challenge by completing a BINGO board filled with fun, low-tech activities. Whether it’s playing a board game, taking a family hike, or sharing a story outdoors, we hope everyone finds new ways to engage with one another. We’ll even have prizes for those who complete their boards and show off their Cougar pride! As a school, we’ll also be stepping back from screen use (outside of testing) and providing plenty of outdoor and hands-on learning experiences for our students throughout the week.
As always, thank you for your continued support, energy, and enthusiasm. Every day at Cook Hill is filled with love, positivity, and purpose, and we are so grateful to have such an amazing school community. We look forward to seeing and hearing from many of you throughout the month—and to making the most of these final weeks together.
With gratitude,
The Cook Hill Team

The form will be open throughout the entire school year. Anytime your family or child celebrate or do something interesting, add a new submission!
Not only will we celebrate our school community together during our Morning Announcements, but (with the families permission) we will regularly share one of the submissions with our entire school community!
