What's Up At The Nest...
Principal's Message
We had a fantastic first full week at the nest! Thank you all for coming to Curriculum Night. We appreciate your support and investment in your child's school experience. If you missed our email, please click on the videos below for a message from the principals, the PTA president, and our specials teachers.
Principals Welcome and Staff Introductions
Specials Teachers Curriculum Night
We just wanted to share a reminder that the playground, blacktop, red top, and fields are closed to families and the public during school hours (8:50 am - 3:35 pm).
Also, dogs are not allowed on school property. We know our furry friends love to pick up their humans; however, they need to stay in the grassy area between the sidewalk and Olive Street. Thank you in advance for helping all of our students (and adults) feel safe.
Have a wonderful, safe weekend!
Erin, Julia and the OMS staff
YEARLY SCHOOL DRILLS
During the school year, we practice many safety drills with our students. This year in collaboration with AHPD and AHFD our school-wide drills WILL be announced. At the time of a drill, our students and staff will hear an intercom message indicating that we will be holding a practice drill.
Once a year will conduct a “lockdown” safety drill with all students. The “lockdown” is one of the routine safety drills we practice throughout the year, along with evacuation drills, shelter-in-place drills, and a bus evacuation drill. Students are prepared for this drill prior to the “lockdown” so they are not unnecessarily alarmed, and it will be announced. Classroom teachers will review our emergency procedures with their students. Officer O'Leary from the Arlington Heights Police Department will also be in attendance during our practice drill.
CHANGE OF TRANSPORTATION - NOTIFY OFFICE
For our families that utilize the school bus, when we are not aware that children are being picked up (whether it is one day, or weekly on certain days) we are not able to send the bus until all registered bus riders are accounted for. This delays the bus and affects families that are expecting their children off the bus around a certain time frame. We appreciate your cooperation in getting students home in a safe and timely manner!

A NOTE FOR STUDENTS WITH FOOD ALLERGIES
Please note that students who choose to pack a meal from home are invited to take a bag with milk that will also contain a fruit, vegetable, and grain at no charge. If your child has food allergies or food intolerances, please work with them to identify what they can consume from this bag, should they decide to pick it up.
All of these bagged items will be wrapped. If a student chooses not to consume all items, those may be placed on a table in the eating area so as to not be wasted.
As a reminder, lunch is free this school year for all District 25 students.
Thank you,
