Patriot's Pointe
Greetings Patriot Families,
I hope everyone has had a safe weekend as we all recovered from the impact of Hurricane Helene. This Thursday, you are invited out to engage in a Jenkins Road Town Hall Meeting on Safety. Our meeting will take place in the Sandy Creek Auditorium at 6pm and the principals, SRO's, and district officials will be in attendance to facilitate the meeting and provide our community with insight on our safety procedures. We will take your questions and concerns in advance using a Google Form and additional information can be found further down in our newsletter. On Tuesday, October 8, 2024 our students in grades 9-11 will participate in the PSAT and remaining 11th grade students will also have the opportunity to take the ASVAB.
This week at The Creek we kicked off our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Our students participated in Western themes, wore their favorite jersey, displayed their pride by showing off their flags, and made a fashionable statement with their Quinceanera dresses!
Congratulations to our Lady Patriots Softball team as they shut out Fayette County High School in region play, 4-0! Our Softball team will be back in action at home on Tuesday against Mary Persons. Our Volleyball team will be on the road this week against region opponent Troup High School and our Football team will also play away at Spalding High School. Our Flag Football team will play on the road against Forrest Park and our Cross County team will be featured in the Alexander/Asics Invitational. We hope to see you supporting all of our student athletes as they compete in region play all this week.
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

Digital Scoreboard Fund Raiser for SCHS
We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.
Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. With your assistance we can help the students prepare for those endeavors while branding your business and supporting our community. Please view the information attached about the sponsorship and digital scoreboard.

Georgia Tech Women in Engineering
The Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Program is excited to announce that registration is open for our annual Engineering Career Conference (ECC) – our STEM outreach program for young women who are current junior and senior high school students!
ECC is designed to give high school girls knowledge and information about the eleven engineering disciplines offered at Georgia Tech to help them decide if they'd like to study engineering in college, and, if so, which type of engineering is best for them.
This year's ECC will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 8:30AM to 4:30PM in Georgia Tech’s Exhibition Hall.
Over the course of a day, prospective female students have the opportunity to hear directly from Georgia Tech's world-renowned faculty and current Tech students about the various engineering majors offered at GT. In addition, attendees have the chance to meet with a GT Admissions Counselor to find out about the admissions process and the academic requirements necessary to be successful in the engineering undergraduate programs.
The non-refundable registration fee for ECC is $40, which covers all materials as well as breakfast and lunch for all attendees of the program; need based scholarships are available and we encourage all students to apply.
The application link may be found here. There is also a QR code in the attached flyer so students! Applications will be open until September 15th.
If teachers are interested in bringing a group of students, students will need to register individually, and note the teacher’s name as their chaperone. We can only accommodate 1 group of 10 per school, with 1 teacher as a chaperone. Teachers ARE NOT able to register on student’s behalf.
Free College Essay Help with Notable Narratives!
About Notable Narratives:
NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help
Since our founding in August 2020:
Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.
1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.
94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.
We encourage you to read more about our impact through our Impact Report, website, and Instagram. We are excited to help even more students this year!
Next Steps:
Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

Parent Square
The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.

The Infinite Campus app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
