How Do I Order a College Transcript?
Steps for Unofficial or Official Transcript
Unofficial transcripts: Keep a copy of your unofficial transcript for your records. Send an unofficial copy to your school counselor if you wish to add a community college class to your WHS transcript.
Official transcript: The college you plan to attend will need an official transcript (a copy sent from the community college to the other college). Check the website or your email for their deadlines.
Steps: WebSmart > Student Services > Student Records > Request Official transcript
Some colleges will expect to see your college transcript when you apply as a first-year student. The first two SMCCD transcript requests are free; subsequent requests cost $5 per order. Foothill-De Anza College District charges for every official transcript order.
If you plan to take more than one college course or have questions about the impact of adding the college grade, contact your counselor or college advisor first.
Foothill-De Anza College: Official Transcript Order
Order through MyPortal: Open the Student Apps page and click on the "Transcripts" tile to order.
Which Colleges Prefer AP Classes?
Check the admissions page of your target college or stop by a college rep visit to ask this question. Some highly selective private colleges in the US do prefer AP coursework. The UC and CSU give AP and community college courses equal weight as honors coursework. Most colleges suggest recommendations about high school preparation.
Example: Cal Poly SLO recommends 5 years of English: we do not offer English electives, so WHS students can take English 100 or English 110 (submit AP English Language & Composition exam score of 3+ to the assessment office) to become more competitive candidates with a 5th year of English.
Applying to international colleges? Check their admissions page. Some require at least 3 AP exams (scores of 4 or 5) by the time you apply in the fall of your senior year.

Common Questions
1. How many college units can apply to my WHS graduation requirements?
20 of your 220 credits can come from community college coursework. Download an unofficial copy of your transcript from your WebSmart account and send it to your school counselor.
2. Can a college course count towards my minimum attendance at WHS?
Yes! One college course can count. Students in grades 9-11 must take at least 6 classes per semester. Students in grade 12 must maintain at least 5 classes per semester.
3. What is the difference between taking a class at SMCCD and FDCCD?
Skyline College (SMCCD)'s Walking Fitness I earns 1 semester unit for college and 5 credits of PE for WHS.
Foothill College (FDCCD)'s Beginning Volleyball earns 1 quarter unit for college and 1 credit of PE for WHS.
4. What should I do if the class is not working out?
Know the drop deadlines for your community college. Check the college's academic calendar. If you aren't passing the class and do not want to have a D/F grade on a college transcript, you must drop the class on your college account (SMCCD's WebSMART or FDA's MyPortal) before the "Last Day to Drop without a W" deadline. Your high school counselor cannot drop the class for you.
5. Do I have to add the college class to my WHS transcript?
If you didn't take the class to fulfill a WHS graduation requirement, you do not have to add the college class to your WHS transcript.
6. Am I required to send official community college transcript(s) to the college I plan to attend after I graduate from WHS? YES!
Even if you added the college course(s) to your WHS transcript, the college you plan to attend after WHS will expect to receive an official transcript from the community college(s).
7. How do I list college classes on my CSU or UC application? If you were enrolled in a high school course that received at least 3 semester units or 4 quarter units, you will enter the college course on your applications instead of the WHS course. Check with your college & career advisor about other coursework (Audio Production, Hospitality, or Physical Education).
8. I completed a community college class in the summer and will include it on my WHS transcript. How do I report it on the Common App application?
Go to Courses & Grades. Select Other for a summer session class and WHS for the school. After you identify it as a Dual Enrollment course, enter the final grade and final units awarded.
