Focus on FCPS
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break. We were so excited to welcome students back into our buildings this morning. I wanted to take this time to invite you to Community Conversations with the Superintendent this Thursday, January 4 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Orchard View Elementary School. This is an opportunity for me to hear from you on a variety of topics, and continue conversations on what we need to stop, start, and continue for the betterment of our students. Your voice is important and I hope to see you there. Thank you.

Inclement Weather
As the chance for winter weather approaches, we want to remind you about FCPS inclement weather procedures. When possible, the decision to delay or close will be made the night before. If that is not possible, a decision will be made in the morning prior to 6:00 a.m. and calls, emails, text messages and an app notification will be sent out through the Rapid Communication System. In addition, the message will be posted on Facebook, the division and all school websites, and various television and radio stations.
ALL In VA
The Virginia Department of Education has approved the FCPS ALL In VA spending plan. Approximately 70% of the ALL In VA funding will be used to provide tutoring to students in grades 3-8 to help recover learning opportunities lost during the pandemic.

Orchard View Elementary School Has New School Pet
A huge thank you to Mrs. Sikora student Kynlee Sikora for making this all possible. Kynlee fully researched this project and spent all year making proposals to Mrs. Rinker. Through coaching, research, and community support, we now have an amazing school pet, a Russian Tortoise named Pokey.
