BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING: MAY 20, 2025
Update from the Board President
Board President Evelyn Vance recognized several staff members who are retiring from the Northridge Local School District. The following individuals were honored for their service and dedication:
Ms. Neda Haines, Cafeteria Staff, Northridge Middle School – recognized for 25 years of committed service to the district.
Mr. Joe Rowe, Principal, Northridge High School – acknowledged for two years of dedicated service to Northridge and 32 years in education.
Mr. Sean Smith, Principal, Northridge Middle School – commended for three years of service to Northridge and a total of 33 years in the education field.
In addition, Board President Vance, and members of the Board, offered a special tribute to Superintendent Dr. Kristine Michael, who will conclude her tenure with the district at the end of the month. Dr. Michael was recognized for five years of exemplary leadership at Northridge and 32.5 years of distinguished service to public education. Her commitment and contributions were deeply appreciated by the Board and community.
Update from the Superintendent
Superintendent Dr. Kristine Michael expressed her gratitude to the Northridge community, stating it had been an honor to serve the district. She thanked the community for its ongoing partnership and support, and shared her confidence that the district is well-positioned for continued success as it transitions to new leadership.
Board Business
The Board approved the hiring of Mr. Elliot Wentz as the new Middle/High School Principal under a three-year contract. It also appointed Mr. Dale Dickson of the Licking Regional Educational Service Center as Interim Superintendent, effective from June 11 through June 30, 2025. Mr. Brian Blum, who was previously announced as the district’s next superintendent, will officially begin his role on July 1, 2025.
The Board also approved a number of personnel and programmatic items, including staff adjustments, compensation for IEP evaluations and report writing up to 30 hours at a rate of $50 per hour, and several field trips for the 2025–2026 school year. Mental health services, funded through a grant, were approved to ensure continued support for students. The Board reviewed and approved the five-year financial forecast as presented by the Treasurer.
In addition, the Board conducted a first review of policy updates recommended by NEOLA, the district’s policy service provider that ensures compliance with current legal and educational standards.
