February and Spring!
It's February! (after the longest January on record). Seriously, our early childhood and kindergarten classes celebrated the 100th day with lots of 100 day activities on Friday, January 31st! Our first graders worked hard to celebrate our 101st day of school today! We continue to have some great learning and fun coming our way EVERY day! February brings a few field trips AND our week of kindness. Our "No Place for Hate" student club has some fun activities planned along with dress up days! We did encourage our students to think of easy things families would already have around the house such as hats, socks, pajamas, and more! Throughout the week, children will spread some kindness with notes and inspirational quotes too.
As part of our kindness campaign, students are participating in a "service project" to share our love for others along with passing out valentines to classmates! On Valentine's Day, our students will be crafting cards to share with our donations. For Valentine's, please note the following:
- Students will be passing out valentines to one another as part of the fun! Each homeroom teacher should have sent home a "roster" for students to make cards to pass out! The campus is providing "white" bags for students to decorate to put valentines in to come home!
- EC-2nd grade are collecting food items for the Leander Food Pantry. Food specifically needed include peanut butter, tomato based products, and hygenie products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste)
- 3rd-5th grade is collecting NEW socks and underwear for the LISD Clothes Closet. The clothes closet is in need of larger socks and underwear for middle and high school students.
Keep reading for some volunteer opportunities! Remember, Hisle Hounds howl loud and proud!
