Dear Los Pen Families,


Our students were excited to return from Spring Break this week to find some beautiful sensory paths on our blacktop. We are so appreciative of our PTA for sponsoring two beautification projects from local Eagle Scouts. Trevor Kutzner (son of Kerri Kutzner, one of our amazing LPES staff members) and his team painted our sensory paths, and Frankie Stingo and his team installed more backpack hooks. Both of these Scouts are former Los Pen students. We are so thankful for their contributions back to LPES!


Next week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will begin their CAASPP testing. If you have a student who will be testing, make sure to encourage your child to get plenty of rest, have a healthy breakfast, arrive to school on-time, and to have a positive mindset. Please contact your child's teacher if you have questions regarding state testing. Thank you for your support in helping our students do their best during testing!

Arrival Traffic/Parking Lot Updates

Thank you for your support in making our traffic changes run smoothly! As a reminder, there is no left turn into the parking lot from Cuca Street (driving westbound on Cuca Street toward Bernabe Street). There will be traffic cones stationed in the street similar to our dismissal traffic. Please avoid passing the cones and making an illegal U-turn, as this is a safety hazard for both pedestrians and oncoming traffic.


Vehicles must enter the parking lot by turning right only from Cuca Street, driving toward Carmel Mountain Road.

PUSD New Student Enrollment

Please share this news with any new families you may know who may need to enroll their children in school.


Poway Unified School District is currently enrolling new students for the 2025-2026 school year!

PUSD Enrollment is an online process. Enrolment packets are digital and can be completed using any computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection. You can contact your assigned school of residence to schedule an appointment if you do not have access to a device/internet or if you need assistance with completing the online enrollment packet. Please visit the PUSD Enrollment page for directions and access to the online enrollment portal.

Full-Day Universal TK in Poway Unified

PUSD is now offering a full-day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program. TK is designed as the first year of a two-year kindergarten program and uses a play-based curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. EC Section 48000 [d]. Students who participate in TK will attend school daily for a full day, including a scheduled lunch and recess. Contact your neighborhood school for specific hours and details.

For the 2025-26 school year, TK enrollment is open to all eligible 4 year olds within the Poway Unified School District. This means, if your child's 4th birthday is on/before September 1, 2025 (born between September 2, 2020 and September 1, 2021), you are eligible to enroll your child in our full-day Transitional Kindergarten program! We can’t wait to meet all of our new students! School starts on Wednesday, August 13th, for the 2025-2026 school year.


LPES Running Club

We had our last Running club this year and celebrated with bubbles and otter pops for all our runners. It's wonderful to see students cheering and encouraging one another. Many thanks to all the volunteers who make Running Club possible each week for our students.

We have 158 members and would like to reach our goal of 200 members! Only 21% to goal! Membership is $9 with $1 processing fee!
