December 2024
Hello Mill Pond Families!
December is here and so is the wintery weather. Although the bright sun has been lovely, it is quite deceiving as it has been chilly. We are outside during recess and gross motor as much as possible, please remind your child to dress appropriately for the outside temperatures. We are outside when it is 37 degrees (low winds) and higher.
November and December are months of the year that really feel like time is flying by. Each year seems to go a bit faster. It is most likely due to the busy days preparing for the upcoming holidays. As well as all of the activities that are happening at school!
Tis’ the season for respect and kindness. Each day on the announcements, we remind our students how important these two traits are. This month, the Mill Pond community will be participating in many events that will promote the need for kindness. One such event is focused on helping our furry friends at the Lacey Food Bank. We will be accepting cat and dog donations through the first week of December. Items such as treats and cans / bags of food, All items should be small enough for our students to bring in themselves. This promotes their individual participation and fills their hearts with pride that they helped in a small way.
May this season bring about many opportunities for you and your families to enjoy the moments that make lasting memories.
From all of the Mill Pond staff, we wish everyone a “Happy Holiday!”!

PTA News
The PTA has scheduled for the Tinsel Town Holiday Shop to be open to our students on 12/11 - 12/13. This is an opportunity for students to do a little shopping for their families with the help of our PTA volunteers. A family night is scheduled for Thursday, 12/13.
Thank you to all our parent volunteers during make-up pictures, book fair, parent sign in and out of various events, and donating for various activities! The support is amazing! We truly have a wonderful network of families here at Mill Pond!
Parent Pick Up
Due to the complexities of our students' schedules and current student enrollment, you must let the main office know if there is a change to your child's normal routine. You can contact the main office via phone, write and send in a note, or utilize the daily google form. All notifications must be to the main office by 2pm each day.
The daily google form can be found in your child's portal if you can not find the link.

Exciting Building News
As we expand, we require additional areas for recess and gross motor. Our lower playground area has been a focus with the renovation of the blcktop thanks to local scout, Austin. We added a shed to house our play equipment. It is beautiful! We are also adding additional structures to the area within the coming months. The students are going to love it!
Pawsome Citizens
The students of Mill Pond have been learning about citizenship! Our building expectations include being kind, being respectful, and being responsible. When students display these qualities, the staff recognizes the students with cute wristbands so they can proudly talk at home about how they earned it. The more they earn, the better their chances of being recognized as a "Pawsome Citizen".
Congratulations to more Pawsome Citizens!
