BUSY TIMES AT THOMPSON
Last Saturday morning I had the privilege of watching our Jazz group perform at the 44th annual Jazz Festival presented by Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. Under the direction of Mr. Blank, our musicians performed wonderfully. Thompson musicians did a fabulous job of representing Thompson Middle School by showing the audience that Thunder students are working towards excellence! One of the joys of being a middle school principal is having the opportunity to see so many students shine in so many different areas. I am fortunate and appreciative to have this perspective.
Back on the Thompson Campus, we continue our third quarter of learning. We are also preparing for next week’s HOPE Week activities and Random Acts of Kindness Week. This is a week in which we celebrate resiliency and supporting others. Please see the articles below for more information.
In the gym, Girls' Basketball is underway as I have watched our teams put forth a solid effort while demonstrating great sportsmanship on the court. I’m proud of the way our students are going about their “business” academically, musically, athletically, and through the participation in numerous clubs which reach out to others in need.
MIDDLE SCHOOL TRANSFER REQUESTS
Families who wish to submit Middle School Transfer requests may do so through February 28th. The request form is available here on the District 303 website. Families must complete a separate form for each student they want transferred. Requests are granted based on space available so siblings are not guaranteed placement. A written decision will be communicated to families before spring break.
Once the request is approved, a student may remain at that middle school throughout his or her middle school career, as long as the student resides in District 303. Families of students granted permission to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance are responsible for their own transportation. Students will return to their assigned attendance area high school regardless of the middle school attended.
SURVEY - HELP NEEDED!
The 5Essentials Survey (Parent Satisfaction Survey) closes on Friday, February 15, 2019. I need your help! Only 11% of our parents have completed this survey and we need this percent to be over 20%. If you have not done so already, I urge you to participate in this process by clicking on the following link https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/.
Thank you in advance for taking a few moments of your time to provide us this important feedback!
Enjoy your weekend!
HOPE Week is February 11th - 15th!
