Why Parent & Family Engagement?
Neshaminy School District Title I recognizes the importance of implementing effective strategies to engage families as they support their children’s learning and development. Many studies have examined the role of parent and family engagement in their child’s education. Anne T. Henderson (2002), found “when schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more. Studies found that students with involved parents, no matter what their income or background, were more likely to:
Earn higher grades, test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs.
Be promoted, pass their classes, and earn credits.
Attend school regularly. Have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school.
Graduate and go on to postsecondary education.

Kindergarten Class Hosts an Author's Tea
Mrs. McHugh's Kindergarten class hosted an "Author's Tea" for families on May 10. Students showcased their own creative writing stories that connected to their author study of Mo Willems. Students worked hard over the past few weeks to craft their own stories and practice their illustration skills, and families enjoyed hearing students read their work.
