SCHOOLS DONATE BOOKS TO AMERICORP
The Media Centers of Mt. Pleasant Elementary and Hillside Elementary recently donated books to Zufall Health Center's "Reach Out and Read" program.
Zufall Health Centers is a federally qualified health center. It's Reach Out and Read program encourages pediatricians to talk with families about the importance of reading with their children to not only develop literacy, but to also strengthen the bond between parents/guardians and their children. This program enables pediatricians to give books to their patients based on the child's age and developmental stage.
Recently, volunteers stopped at MPE and Hillside to pick up boxes full of books that the doctors can share with their patients. Together, the schools donated over 400 books. The books were chosen based on low circulation statistics in their respective media centers.
Both schools are proud that they were able to contribute to promoting early literacy development as an important component of pediatric primary care!
LHS INSTANT DECISION DAY
The LHS Counseling Department recently held an Instant Decision Day program, where college admissions counselors from several colleges met individually with LHS students. During their interviews, students discussed their application to the school and their interest in attending the institution. Many students were accepted on the spot after concluding their interview with the admissions counselor! Congratulations to all!

This event features teams of students playing friendly games of flag football all in the name of a good cause! The club was started by Lily Kestler to honor the life and memory of her brother, Jake Kestler. Trail Blazers for Kids works to improve treatment options and find cures for pediatric cancers.

PROCESS FOR ADDRESSING PARENT CONCERNS
Livingston Public Schools strives to respond to concerns and/or questions as quickly and effectively as possible. In a school system, as in any organization, the “chain of command” refers to communication levels of authority in the school district. The philosophy behind the chart in the link below is to refer community members to those people in the organization who can best solve any concerns or questions that may arise, and then direct them to the appropriate people if issues are not able to be effectively addressed at the first level.
COMMUNICATION TOOLS • SUICIDE LIFELINE • MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
STAY CONNECTED
LPS is committed to building strong relationships with students, families, and the community, and as such, we strive to provide accurate and timely information to our stakeholders.
