Dear Parents/Carers,
As many will know, this week the Year 6 pupils have been sitting their SATs examination papers and it is of the utmost importance that I express how proud I am of their efforts, their resilience and their maturity. Each day, the pupils came in to school for our early breakfast club ready, prepared and in excellent spirits. As a staff, we could not have asked any more of them.
In order to orchestrate this, it is very much a whole staff effort. I would like to extend a huge ‘Thank You’ to all the staff at Larks Hill who rallied around to ensure that the week went as smoothly as possible. I would also like to thank the parents and carers of the Year 6 pupils who have supported us all year to ensure that we give these pupils the best preparation we can for them to succeed.
This afternoon, the pupils had great fun outside relaxing with a whole class water fight and a barbeque. It was lovely to see the pupils enjoying themselves and spending time with their friends. Well done Year 6!!
A few Memorable Moments
It is always a pleasure to be invited into a class to see the work they are doing and are proud of. Year One invited me to go and listen to some of their kenning poems this week about animals. I had great fun guessing the animal. The vocabulary and descriptions used by some of our younger pupils was excellent. Well done Year 1!

Music Lessons 2024-2024
From September 2024 we will have spaces for children in Years 3 – 6 to learn a musical instrument. Lessons are provided by Wakefield Music Service and take place during school hours, in small groups for around 20 minutes a week, with a specialist tutor. Lessons available are:
• Guitars
• Violins
• Drums
• Brass
• Keyboards
At the moment we are trying to gauge interest so we can plan for next year. If you feel your child would like to learn one of these instruments please email the office on admin@larkshill.patrust.org.uk by Wednesday 22nd May.
On a final note, I would like to thank you for your attendance and support with the Scholastic Book Fair this week. I hope that you managed to find some great new texts to read with your children at home.
Have a lovely weekend!
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Adams
