Manitou Springs Middle School
Friday, April 14th, 2023
Dear Middle School Families,
Our students did an amazing job during CMAS testing. We made sure to have a lot of fun between assessments. Students had opportunities for walking field trips, extra recess, and lots of play. Our staff is proud of the great effort our students made this week!
Next week we have a regular start time of 8:05 on Wednesday. Friday there is no school for students. We hope you join us for STEAM night on Thursday, April 20th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Manitou Springs Middle School. This is a free community event with a lot of exciting activities and demonstrations in the STEAM field, including a Cave Simulator that students can explore. The whole family is welcome to attend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Cady
Principal, MSMS

6th Grade Snack Sign-up
6th graders eat lunch early, at 10:05am, so they tend to be hungry towards the end of the day. PAC is helping organize snacks for the 6th graders so they can focus on their afternoon classes. The big boxes of snacks they sell at Costco or Sam's are perfect. Please consider signing up HERE.

Mustang Tech Tips!
Relationships and Technology:
In these hectic days, we tend to be too busy to nurture or even create good relationships. Add digital devices and social media to the mix, and things get complicated even further. Let’s help each other take the first step toward building healthy and rewarding friendships and symbiotic relationships, both online and off.
Tips for Healthy Relationships
- Communication: Open and honest communication is crucial in any relationship. Make sure to express your feelings and actively listen to your partner.
- Trust: Trust is the foundation of a healthy relationship. Building trust takes time, but it's important to be trustworthy and rely on your partner as well.
- Respect: Respect is about treating each other with kindness and consideration. Show respect for each other's opinions and needs.
- Compromise: Relationships involve give and take. It's important to find a balance between your needs and your partner's needs.
- Quality Time: Spending time together doing things you both enjoy can strengthen your bond.
Ways digital devices can affect relationships
Positive:
- Communication: Digital devices make it easier to stay in touch with loved ones, regardless of distance or time zones.
- Shared Interests: Sharing videos, articles, and social media posts can help couples discover new interests together.
- Planning: Digital devices can make it easier to coordinate schedules and make plans with your partner.
Negative:
- Addiction: Overuse of digital devices can lead to addiction and interfere with relationships.
- Miscommunication: Misunderstandings can occur when relying too much on digital communication and not enough on face-to-face communication.
- Distraction: Digital devices can be distracting and prevent couples from being present in the moment and enjoying each other's company.
To maintain a healthy relationship, it's important to strike a balance between the positive and negative effects of digital devices. Limiting screen time and making time for quality face-to-face communication can help strengthen your bond.
