Dear Huffman families,

We are so excited for this week!

Tonight is our Back to School Open House from 5:30-7:00 pm. Here is the schedule:

• 5:10 Class lists posted outside on wall by MPR
• 5:15 Doors open to MPR
• 5:30 Welcome and introductions
• 5:45 Visit classrooms
• 7:00 Open House ends

Please note that masks must be worn by all who enter the building. I do expect our MPR to be fairly crowded. If you are not comfortable entering the building, I will also be available to address any questions or concerns outside the main entrance after I speak with families in the MPR.

I'm looking forward to meeting our students and families tonight. Hope to see you there!

Arrivals

• Drop off will be similar to last year
• Families will remain in vehicle and drive through the back lot to the student drop off area
• Drop off in lane next to curb only
• No students may walk through the parking lot unattended
• K-2 students will walk in front of the building to their class line up area
• 3rd-6th students will walk around the back of the building to their class line up area
• Playground area will be closed for arriving students
• Families may park and walk their children to their classroom door
• After 9:00 am, students will need a tardy pass from the main office

Dismissals

• Teachers will walk students out to buses, walking area, and parent pick up area
• Cars will have tags to help staff identify families
• Families will remain in the vehicle in the pick up line
• Families can park and wait outside by the pick up area or front doors if they want to meet their children in person
• Playground will be closed to students at the end of the day unless accompanied by an adult
• Kindergarten teachers will communicate their plan with families

Our front office will be contacting kindergarten families on Monday to schedule a time for your Family Connection Meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to build relationships with families at the start of the academic year and support a smooth transition into kindergarten. They will also share information about Kindergarten Academy, a time when incoming kindergarten students can experience their classroom, teacher and peers in small steps prior to their first full day of school. Students and families can practice drop off/pick up procedures, storytime, planned/structured play and other aspects of the kindergarten day. We can't wait to welcome our newest Huffman Huskies to school!

We are pleased to share that ASD Student Nutrition will once again be providing free hot lunch for all students this year. Students will need to sign up for lunch in their classroom each day.
