Builta Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Whether your child goes to the Right at School program, walks, takes a bus, rides a bike, or arrives in a car, Builta staff want to make sure that our students enter and exit the school building as smoothly and safely as possible.

Talking with your child about how they will go home each day helps them to feel more comfortable and secure about their end of day routines. Each door to our building is numbered. This system can help you make after-school arrangements with your child. Please determine where you will meet (outside the building) and share the door number with your child.

At the bottom of the newsletter, we have attached the Dismissal Plan and Arrival/Dismissal Map for your review. We ask parents to complete a Dismissal Plan for each child. The Dismissal Plan is an important communication tool between home and school, it tells your child’s teacher how he/she will go home each day. We will also have hard copies of Dismissal Plans in during Meet and Greet.

We appreciate all Builta families for completing and turning in your child's Dismissal Plan. This helps us make sure that your student goes home the correct and safest way everyday. If your child has a change in dismissal, please make sure to notify your teacher and office in writing (email or note) of this change.

A few safety notes:

• The front circle drive is closed at arrival (8:45-9:15) and dismissal (3:15-3:45) due to the unloading of school busses. Driving around a school bus with the stop sign out is prohibited and against the law.
• Parents dropping off children in their vehicles are to use the car-line circle drive by the staff parking lot.
• Please remember that parking is prohibited from 3:15 pm - 3:45 pm on Apple Valley Road. The city has designated this a no parking area due to the car pick up line.

Arrival Procedures:

• During the period of time when children are arriving in the morning, no adults, without an appointment, will be allowed into the schools. Children will be allowed in through normal procedures.

• Any adult, without an appointment, who wishes to go into the school to talk with the administration or drop something off at the school will need to wait until arrival procedures are completed for the students or call the office for assistance.

• For all elementary schools, adults without an appointment will not be allowed between 8:50 - 9:05 a.m. Monday-Tuesday, and Thursday- Friday. On Wednesday, that time is 9:00 - 9:15 a.m.

Please remember that there is no adult supervision from Builta staff in the morning before the first bell rings at 8:50 am. In addition the playground is not available for student use before the start of the school day. Students are allowed on the blacktop or sidewalk area while waiting for the doors to open for the start of the school day. We ask that parents not have walkers and bike riders arrive at school before 8:50 am without being overseen by a parent or guardian.

• Cell Phone Usage in School Zone: Please remember that state law prohibits cell phone usage in a school zone.
• Crossing Guards: Please remember to follow the traffic directions of the crossing guards.
• Stop Signs: Please remember to make a complete stop at the stop signs.
• Walkers and Bike/Scooter Riders: Students are to walk their bikes/scooters when they are on school grounds.
• No Dogs at Arrival and Dismissal: For the safety of our students, we ask that parents refrain from bringing dogs onto school property during arrival and dismissal time periods.

Door #2 - Right At School

Right At School students will enter and exit the building with family members through Door #2. Students for Right At School are in the multipurpose room.
