Monday Kick-Off
Horn Frog Nation
October 21, 2024
Dear Family,
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We kick off Red Ribbon Week today with hat day. There are resources and activities found here https://www.redribbon.org/.
BCYC will have an electrician coming in next week to change out the lights to LED in building 1. There will also be a technician coming in to finish hanging the window blinds. Please be patient and flexible. Everything Mr. Burch is doing is to improve the overall look and function of the buildings.
Reflecting on our PD day.
- Self-Care - You must find a balance between work and family. You must find the time to care and rejuvenate yourself.
- Time management - Evaluate where your conference time is going and then make a change. You could try prioritizing the items you need to get done.
- Student discipline - By now you have set your expectations, and the students should have a clear understanding of what they are. Let's set them up for success by remembering everyday is a new day. Giving them a reminder first followed by a cool period(if needed). Next should be a teacher consequence and parent notification. If the behavior persists, send the student to me, write the referral and notify the parent of the persistent behavior. Please let them know I will contact them about the referral and the consequence. If the student has a behavior plan, please make sure you are following it. If it is not working, let Mrs. Martinez know so we can address it.
- Kudos for a very productive DDI meeting. It is amazing how much the discussions have changed since we started this process. I can definitely see how thoughtful you were in your planning with the students in mind and how reflective you are after the lessons and assessment.
To Do's:
- Make sure you are taking your attendance every section.
- Make sure you are having your students step into the arena for IXL weekly.
- Conference with your students about their goals and the progress they are making.
"Though you can't always drive improvements through other people and sometimes not even through a team. You can always be an example of Improvement. Remember the way the word is spelled says it the best, "IMPROVEMENT BEGINS WITH I." - Lean Strategies International LLV
