Principal's Message
Happy Sunday evening, Tiger Nation!
Our staff is hard at work crafting our School Improvement Plan, and we would love your input. This last week, certificated staff were asked the question "What would your dream high school look and feel like"? and after gathering individual responses, and breaking into thematic groups in the following themes: relationships, instruction, assessment, behavior expectations/response, intervention, safety, and celebrations; we created a new DRAFT BGHS mission statement. It reads:
"Our mission is to create a high school environment where relationships are leveraged to foster high levels of learning, ensuring that each and every student feels safe, seen, valued, and accepted. Through engaging, rigorous, and relevant experiences, including diverse course offerings that prepare students for trade, work, college, and military service, we empower students to take ownership of their personal growth. We strive to be a community where students enjoy attending, feel connected to our school, and actively care for one another."
We would LOVE your input, parents, students, and community members- what does your dream high school look like? What would you add, change, delete from the statement above? Send us your input using this link.
Thank you for your input! We are excited to develop the "how" (specific actionable next steps, and measurable outcomes) next!
Have a beautiful week, Tigers!
Heather

End of School Day- Building Clear
We will clear the halls and lock the building at 3:15pm (when the office closes). All other students who need access must be with a coach/advisor/teacher. Staff who are running a club, after-school activity, or coaching a sport, will escort students to the exits when meetings are finished, to ensure students clear the the building. Staff and students should not open doors once they are locked. This is a supervision/safety issue and undoes work our custodial team has completed as they clean.
Report Incidents Anonymously with Safe Schools
Please report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Reporters can remain anonymous. Emergencies should always be reported to 911. Learn more about emergency procedures and safety protocols.

New safety protocols

Depending on the situation, a school will be placed in a hold, secure, lockdown, evacuation or shelter. See what these terms mean. This common language helps schools, first responders and the community communicate clearly and effectively to reduce misunderstandings in emergency situations.
