Principal's Message

Dear Garden Road Families,

The Book Fair was a huge success this week! Students visited the book fair during their library time, and students were able to look at all the amazing books from Scholastic. Many students made purchases. We appreciate all of the families who donated their time to make the Book Fair a success!

Friday Flag last week was lots of fun! Jungle Josh convinced me to be slimed, and Smilin' Kyline asked if I would mind the bucket of extra slime being poured on my head! The students really enjoyed this Friday Flag event! I have included a few pictures from the event below. Thank you to all of the families that came out to Friday Flag at Garden Road.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair may be closed in person but you can still purchase online and the same 25% goes back to our school!

The Great California Shakeout is this Thursday

On Thursday, 10/17, the Great California Shakeout will be held at 10:17 am. Our students will first Drop-Cover-Hold and then evacuate to the field. We will hold our first Disaster Drill immediately following. The disaster drill involves staff looking through the campus to ensure that everyone is accounted for. Students will be on the field with their classes during this time.

Crossing Guard Position Open

Garden Road Elementary School needs a crossing guard! The position is now open for hiring! If you know of a community member who would like to ensure the safety of our students and be a part of Garden Road Elementary School, please share the flier below with them! Any interested candidates can contact our office for more information.

Library News

A Big Thank You from the Library - Our Book Fair was a Success!

Following the excitement of our recent book fair, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support! The energy in the library was electric as students explored new titles, discovered favorite authors, and filled their book bags with wonderful reads. Your participation made this book fair a resounding success! We were able to raise a significant amount of funds which will be used to purchase new books, enhance our library collections, and support enriching literacy programs for all our students.

The volunteers: Your time and dedication were invaluable in making the event run smoothly.
The students: For their enthusiasm and passion for reading, making the book fair so lively.
The amazing GRES staff: For helping their students make good choices.

PS: Our little pumpkin Jack has found a new home in GRES garden by K/1 classes, and it is thriving there with other pumpkin plants planted by Girl Scouts Troop #2161. Thank you to our Troop mom Cassy Russell, for adopting our first pumpkin plant from the library.
