Dear Viper Families,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! The next few weeks are busy as we head towards Winter Break. Your child will have their middle of year NWEA assessment as well as their reading benchmark assessment. These results will be mailed home with report cards after the 1st of the new year.
Thank you for taking time to complete our Title I Survey this fall. We are using your feedback to create a stronger bridge between home and school. Several families indicated that they wished to know more about what their students were learning on a daily basis. While the list below is not all of the Indiana standards our teachers are teaching, it highlights the priority standards for each grade in math and reading. If you have questions on how you can support your child at home with these skills, please reach out and we will point you toward some resources.
Community Support has been outstanding during the holiday season so far. We are truly lucky to partner with several organizations and churches. Thank you to the following:
Hill's Pet Nutrition
Sandi Rowe & Family
First Friends
Primex Plastics
Berry Plastics
Shop with a Cop
Dr. Reihman's Office
Bob McFarland & Family
Vaile Elementary School's Winter Program will be Thursday, December 2nd (6:00p.m.) at Civic Hall. The Leader in Me
The first part of Habit 5 teaches us to Seek First to Understand. How a person looks is often misleading. We need to know more about people to understand them. Understanding others takes time and knowledge of their unique character, experiences, abilities, and perspectives.
The second part of Habit 5 is “…Then to Be Understood.” Part of being understood involves giving feedback to others. “I” messages, rather than “You” messages, focus on your feelings without accusing or putting others down. “I was hurt when I didn’t get asked to play,” rather than “You always leave me out” is an example of an “I” Message.
Read the statements below and practice responding using an "I" message.
