Thankful in November
Thank you, staff, students, and parents, for making half days and conferences a success. We always enjoy seeing our parents around the building during conference time. We hope parents got a chance to look at all the wonderful student work and artwork in our school halls. Thank you staff for staying late and always going above and beyond for our wonderful students. A special thank you to our parents and PTA for providing a delicious potluck for teachers throughout conferences. It was an amazing spread that was enjoyed by all!
Attendance
How many absences are too much?
Chronic Absenteeism is when a student misses 10% or more of the school year. In Anchorage School District, 8 absences in a semester are too much! This can lead to poor academic performance and to dropping out of school.
Rogers Park staff wants you to be at school! If you or your student is having trouble making it to school, please make sure you reach out to us, we are here to help!

A Note from Nurse T
It is Getting Dark
Please remember as it is getting dark in the morning to talk with your student about reflective clothing and being aware at bus stops of other cars. It is important that we are all extra aware during this time of year.
Winter Gear
Winter is officially here. Please be sure to send students with snow gear. We want all students to be safe and comfortable in the cold weather. We do have outdoor clothing available to give to kids at school, however, Nurse T is almost completely wiped out after this week. We will happily accept any donations of winter gear if you have any to donate. Please let the front office or your child's teacher know if you need something from our school closet.
Ice Skating is Just Around the Corner
Ice skating will begin soon at Rogers Park. Please click on the link below for detailed information and to sign up for permission to skate at the Rogers Park rink. Additionally, we will be providing ice skates for any child who wishes to borrow a pair for the winter season.
Bus Safety
It is a team effort in ensuring bus safety. Please remind your child to stay seated, use an indoor voice, and keep their hands to themselves. Riding the bus to and from school is a privilege. Please help support bus safety by talking with your children at home about bus safety expectations.

Book Fair Success
Things were busy in the library during out Fall Book Fair. Thank you to all the families who supported the library through their purchase of items at the Book Fair. All proceeds go back to the library, and the students will help Mrs. Levine chose new titles for our library.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped make the book fair a success: Denise Flake, Carly Flake, Jordan Flake, Michael Levine, Brittany Ford, James Raymond, Kathleen Raymond, Vanessa Santos, Kimberly Hays, Nancy Ruff, Brittany Ford, Larry Levine, and the Rogers Park PTA.
An easy way to donate to the library is through credit at Title Wave books. If you drop off books for credit, you can apply that credit to the Rogers Park library. We are able to purchase many highly sought after titles with our credit at Title Wave books.

PTA Update
Hello Rogers Park Families,
We were so impressed with all of the sweet treats and drinks donated by families during Parent Teacher Conferences and all of the support provided at the Book Fair. Thank you for continuing to build our school community.
We want to announce that our Jog-a-thon earlier this fall raised gross donations of $13,452.47 with expenses of $229.32, and sponsor donations totaling $557.28. We are so very thankful to our chairs, Katy & Brittany, and to all of the families who donated time and resources to making this event such a success! While we were a little short of our fundraising goal, we are so appreciative of the generous donations to our school. Please stay tuned as we explore additional fundraising ideas this school year to support our many programs, including ice rink maintenance and teacher reimbursement funds. We are in the process of organizing a "Dine to Donate" opportunity and will share information once it is available!
We are still recruiting for Recess Ice Skating Coordinator Committee Members. Our board member, Brittany, has started working with Ms. Singleton on organizational supports, but we could still use additional assistance and we will be seeking family volunteers to tie skates soon! Please email us at rogers.park.pta@gmail.com if you are interested.
Our next membership meeting will be Thursday, November 21st at 6pm in the school library and on Zoom. A meeting agenda and Zoom details will be sent to members the week of the meeting. Thank you!
