News From the Office
Water Day
Our classrooms having been working all year towards a classroom reading goal. The classes are keeping track of how many minutes are being read at home. If the class meets the goal, the class will be invited to Water Day. Students who do not complete at home reading will NOT be included in the class invite because they haven't contributed to the goal. Water Day will take place on Wednesday, May 29. For those who qualify to participate, please bring a change of dry clothes on that day.
We are looking for parent volunteers to help run the Water Day stations on Wednesday, May 29. If you are an approved volunteer, please consider signing up. The link below will allow you to sign up. Sign ups will close on Wednesday, May 22. SCE will be in touch with volunteers with additional information by Friday, May 24. Visitors will not be able to attend Water Day. Only those who volunteer will attend.
No Flip Flops at SCE
We request that students do not wear flip flops to school. These present a safety concern for students. Thanks for your help with not sending students in flip flops as the weather becomes warmer.
Congratulations. You've found a hidden dragon egg 🐉🥚. If you send an email to jessicaallen@wsdr4.org titled "No Flip Flops at SCE" by the end of the day on Tuesday, April 30. Your student(s) will earn 10 house points! You must include your student(s) name, teachers name, and house in the email. Please do not share this information with anyone.
Spring MAP and IReady Testing Dates
This spring your child (3rd-5th) will be taking the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments in order to evaluate your student’s progress toward the Missouri Learning Standards. Grade-Level Assessments provide important information that contributes to decisions concerning individual students, groups of students, and educational programs. Assessments are given in the subject areas of Communication Arts (grades 3-8), Mathematics (grades 3-8), and Science (grades 5 and 8). Our students in grades K-5 will also be taking the Spring Benchmark for iReady in both reading and math.
Please help us by having your students to school on time if it is a testing day for their grade level, as testing will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. Testing will take place on these days for most of the day. If possible, please do not schedule appointments on these days; we would greatly appreciate it. The testing sessions will be split throughout the entire school day to give students needed breaks between sessions. The images below show the dates of testing with grade levels involved on each date.
If you need to know the specific times on a day, we ask you to reach out to your child's teacher for the times. We greatly appreciate your help on having your child here on these days.

Add Your Frame to the Hall of Frames
Does your family have a photo on the hallway gallery of SCE families?
Over the summer, we add to our collage of framed photographs in our hallway. It looks amazing and our SCE Family will love being able to look up at these as they walk through the hallway. If you did not hand yours in you may still do so, but know they will not be hung up immediately. This takes a team of teachers and other volunteers to do this. If you hand a frame in now, it will go up but be patient. Any frames handed in prior to July 11 will be included in the frames we target to hang up for August. Frames received after July 11 will be stored and hung up at a later date. Each family may contribute only one 5x7 frame.
What type of frames are we looking for?
Must be 5x7
Photo can be vertical or horizontal
Black Frame
Frames will be screwed into wall. Please see the frame type we are looking for below. These frames hold up to being screwed into the wall. Not having the right frame may delay frame being hung.

ALL INCOMING KINDERGARTEN and NEW SCE FAMILIES
ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING FRAMES TOO!
