Brown School Buzz
November 20, 2024
Dear Brown School Families,
There are times when the task of creating of the Brown School Buzz haunts my to-do list, but not today. I couldn't be happier to be writing this one and reconnecting with all of you.
The past 3 weeks have been challenging for everyone, and I sincerely thank you all for your patience. We are all back and ready to reestablish our learning environment. I would also like to share our plan for transitioning back to school and our collective message to students and parents. Regardless of your position, I know we can all agree we are are happy to be back at school learning.
Our message to our students is that we missed them, we are ready to get back into the swing of school and we are moving forward with our learning. Undoubtedly, some of our students will have questions, I have asked all staff members to respect that families will have differing opinions, and it is not appropriate for us to share our opinions or engage in any specifics of the past few weeks. It is ok to say that there was a disagreement, and the time we had off was spent getting help to solve the disagreement. Our focus now is on helping our students reestablish their learning routines and feeling happy and positive about being back at school and learning. Admittedly, a half day before a long holiday weekend with high absenteeism is not ideal for re-establishing learning routines, but it's a start and Monday, December 2 will be breath of fresh air!
As always, please reach out to me if I can help answer any questions about our school and how we are moving forward.
No matter how messy this world gets....whether it's the world of education, our country, our world, or the world of our family and friends, there is always plenty to be grateful for.
Welcome back everyone...I am truly grateful for you, your support and your partnership as we travel this road together. Happy Thanksgiving!
Celebrating our Veterans!
I know Veteran's Day seems like a long time ago, but there is never a wrong time to honor the service of our veterans! At the Brown School, we are very grateful to our veterans for their commitment and dedication to our country, At our assembly on November 7, we gathered around our flagpole in front of the school, explained the significance and importance of the holiday. Some of our third grade students led the assembly and had some help from a very special visitor, Colonel Joshua F. Bradstreet, United States Marine Corps and dad of kindergartner Lexi! At the close of our assembly all students filed by our Brown School Wall of Honor with all of the veteran connections our students shared. My favorite moment of this experience is when the National Anthem played, and Colonel Bradstreet saluted the flag....and upon noticing his salute, the students followed suit and did the same. Priceless. 💙
