A lot of events pick up in the last week of May, so check the newsletter for more information below.
If your family is leaving the district or moving and won't be attending Longfellow next school year, please contact the office as we prepare for staffing and class lists. If your child has a school-provided instrument and/or supplies, I will be collecting those during lessons the week of May 27-31. There will be no orchestra lessons or rehearsals after May 31st.
Thank you so much for your support of the Orchestra program this year, and I hope to see you all again as they move forward on their musical journey's!

Johnson County 'I Voted' Sticker Contest
In an effort to increase civic engagement in 2024, the Johnson County Auditor’s Office is organizing a fun way for students to show off their artistry and enthusiasm for voting. They are putting on a 2024 ‘I Voted’ Sticker Contest! Students will have the opportunity to have their own ‘I Voted’ sticker design in all 64 voting precincts in Johnson County on Election Day, with the chance to see their creativity displayed on tens of thousands of voters.
There will be two divisions, a youth (17 years old and younger) and an adult (18 years old and over). The submission period for the contest is May 28th through July 5th. Submissions can include any medium, including but not limited to, hand drawn, painted, and graphic design. A panel of Johnson County employees will determine the top 5 designs from each division, and the public will vote on the winner on our website.
The Sticker Template and Submission Form are attached below. As a note, submissions can also be digitally submitted, they do not have to use the sticker template. If submitted digitally, it must be a 2” diameter circle and a .png or .jpeg file.
To see the full information about the contest, visit: https://www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/stickercontest
Check out the link below for information regarding a free online parent support group. This is a group through Scanlan Center for School Mental Health to help families learn skills to support their children with anxious emotions or other mental health disorders.
