Where Everyone Can Succeed
P&C AGM and General Meeting Tonight
We would like to remind all families that our P&C Annual General Meeting (AGM) and general meeting will take place tonight in the school library at 6:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and caregivers to come together, share ideas, and discuss how we can continue to support our school community.
Participating in the P&C is a great way to contribute as a partner in our school. Your involvement helps to foster a strong sense of community, enhances our students' educational experience, and provides avenues for collaboration between parents, teachers, and the school.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Upcoming Athletics Carnivals – Join Us
We are all looking forward to our two upcoming athletics carnivals that promise to be filled with fun, competition, and school spirit!
This Wednesday, students in Years 3-6 (including those students in Year 2 who turn eight this year) will participate in their athletics carnival at the Glendale Sports Centre. It's a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talents, cheer for their friends, and engage in various athletic events. We encourage all families to attend and support our young athletes.
Next Wednesday, our K-2 students will have their own carnival right here at school. This event will allow our youngest students to experience the joy of athletic participation in a friendly and encouraging environment. Again, we warmly welcome all visitors to join us in celebrating our students' achievements.
A special thank you to Mrs. Borrow and Mr. Howe for their outstanding leadership and coordination of these events. Their hard work ensures that our carnivals run smoothly and are enjoyable for everyone involved.
We look forward to seeing you at both events and cheering on our students together!
Promoting Respectful Use of School Toilets
As we continue to foster a positive and respectful environment at our school, we would like to address an important issue regarding the appropriate use of our toilet facilities, particularly among our Stage 3 boys.
This year, we have unfortunately encountered several incidents that have led to damage and unsanitary conditions in our bathrooms. We have had to replace toilet seats and increase cleaning efforts due to paper being used inappropriately on walls and ceilings, chocolate smeared on surfaces, and hats being shoved down toilets.
Our dedicated cleaning staff works tirelessly to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for all students. It is essential that we support their efforts by teaching our children the importance of using the bathroom facilities respectfully and responsibly.
We kindly ask you to have a conversation with your child about the significance of maintaining cleanliness and respect in shared spaces. Simple reminders about using toilets appropriately, keeping the area tidy, and treating the facilities with care can make a significant difference.
Thank you for your support in helping us create a respectful and positive atmosphere at our school. Together, we can ensure that our school remains a clean and pleasant place for all students.
School Photos Next Thursday
We would like to remind all families that school photos will be taken on Thursday, 27 March. Please ensure that all students wear their full school uniform for the photo day.
This is a great opportunity to capture memories of this school year, so let's make sure everyone looks their best!
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing all the smiling faces on photo day.
Glendore Way Afternoon Tea – A Celebration of Excellence
I am excited to announce that next Tuesday afternoon, I will be hosting a special Glendore Way Afternoon Tea, where we will celebrate 20 exceptional students. This event is designed to congratulate and honour those who have consistently demonstrated our school values of respect, safety, and engagement.
Throughout this term, students who have had their names on the class Kookie Recognition Board have been entered into a name draw at various times. We are thrilled to invite the selected students to join us for an afternoon filled with delicious treats and joyful celebration.
I am also pleased to share that we will be conducting these afternoon teas each term, providing ongoing recognition for our students’ hard work and commitment to our school values. This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge their achievements, and I look forward to sharing this special afternoon with them.
Have a wonderful week everyone,
Annette Van Egmond
We are excited to share some of the wonderful activities happening in our classrooms this week! Our STEM Days featured engaging sessions focusing on coding, using Bee Bots, and designing and making projects. These hands-on experiences help foster creativity and critical thinking in our students.
We are also pleased to announce that we have booked the Hunter Wetlands Excursion for Term 2. This excursion will provide students with an opportunity to explore and learn about our local environment, enhancing their understanding of ecosystems. This excursion also supports our Science unit about Living Things in Semester One. Information will be sent via SchoolBytes early next term.
In addition, Stage 1 are dedicated to establishing and maintaining our school gardens around the demountable classrooms. This initiative not only beautifies our school but also helps our students develop a sense of belonging and respect for nature. The students have some wonderful ideas to enhance our “Strawberry Fields” garden and maybe even include a Fairy Garden. Watch this space!
Looking ahead, Year 2 will be start running the K-2 assemblies, and we encourage you to support them by attending.
During Week 8 (17th March – 21st March) Glendore will be celebrating Harmony Week. Students will be enjoying a diverse range of activities during the week to celebrate and recognise our diversity and bring together Australians from all different backgrounds.
It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
We ask that on Friday 21st March that students wear the colour orange or cultural dress with a gold coin donation.
In our canteen there will be orange jelly and mango yoghurt cups available to purchase until sold out!
We also ask that if able could all students bring in a ribbon and/or a piece of material to be tied along our ribbon string which will then be hung in our front wishing tree.
Cannot wait to see and celebrate!

Children’s University will be running at Glendore for 2025
The concept of Children’s University (CU) is to recognise and acknowledge that children find new areas of learning through discovering educational experiences in their local area. All learning experiences that are out of the classroom (hours before school, during lunch, after school and at events on the weekend and during school holidays) can be recorded in their CU passport.
As directed by Children's University, the number of Glendore PS students permitted to participate in the program this year has reduced.
This program is now limited to a maximum of 40 students.
Students who took part in the Children's University program in 2024 will be offered the first opportunity to enrol in CU 2025. To secure a place, the permission note and payment must be received by 21st March.
If there are any places still available, students in Years 5-6 will be provided with the opportunity to join CU 2025 through a second round of offers. Interested students will attend an information session at school about this program prior to the note being pushed out.
