Summer Math and Reading

8th grade students participated in a Summer Reading Assembly to learn about the expectations for summer reading from high school English teacher, Mrs. Riggio and library media specialist, Ms. Tietjan. Students going to East Hampton High School next year are required to read at least 1 book this summer and complete a google form about their book, which will count as their first quiz grade in freshman English class. Important reminders:
School breakfast is a great way for students to start their school day and its FREE to everyone!
Please review your student(s)’s available balance for any lunch purchases at our secure “e-Funds for Schools” portal: https://payments.efundsforschools.com/v3/districts/56523 Funds should be added on an as needed basis to ensure the account balance covers all purchases.

Just a reminder to check your student's lunch account balance on Meal Magic. Accounts should be brought current by the end of the school year.
Message from the Health Office
If your child has any medication in the nurse’s office from this school year, it must be picked up by a parent by June 13th. Any medication that is not picked up by this date will be discarded. Please note that students are not allowed to bring their medication home on the bus (unless they have self-carry privileges approved by their physician).
Medications for Next Year
According to Connecticut Regulations Section 10-212a through 10-212a-7 and CGS Section 10-212a, a physician’s written and signed order for medication must be renewed every year. It must be signed by your child’s doctor and by a parent/guardian. If your child needs a medication at school, please utilize the medication authorization form found on our website www.easthamptonps.org. Please note that if your child can “self-carry” their medication, there is a place for both parent and doctor to sign at the bottom of the form. Medications must be brought to school in their original container.
In accordance with guidelines of the State of Connecticut General Statutes, the East Hampton Board of Education requires that a formal health assessment with grade appropriate immunizations be done while a student is in grade 6. Follow the link to the Parentsquare with further details.

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs. Learn more about the services offered at your child’s school and enroll today at SBHC1.com!
