Dear Sagebrush Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. I hope this letter finds you still enjoying your summer as we are busy preparing for a great year at Sagebrush.

Families are asked to complete the Parent Forms online prior to the first day of school. New families will complete these forms during registration. Returning families simply need to confirm or update information. To access the forms, go to my.cherrycreekschools.org/ and click on the PowerSchool/Parent Forms tile. You can also refer to the email from the district for a link to the forms. If you do not have access to the internet, we will have computers available at school on Thursday, August 8th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm during our Meet and Greet. Support will be available from a staff member. Students will not be placed into a class until their Parent Forms are complete.

If your parent forms are complete, you will receive an email from your child’s new teacher the week of Aug. 5th. We will be hosting our Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 8th. Meet and Greet will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. You may spend time in the classroom, drop off school supplies, and tour our school. This is a great opportunity for students to meet their new teachers and reconnect with other students and families in our community. We encourage all students to bring their school supplies with them to Meet and Greet in order to make the first day of school run more smoothly. There will be opportunities at Meet and Greet to sign up for extra-curricular activities and other volunteer options.

The district will again have a Phase-In Week for the first week of school. See below:

Monday, Aug. 12th – 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students only (Scheduled Kindergarten screenings)

Tuesday, Aug. 13th – 1st and 2nd grade students only (Scheduled Kindergarten screenings)

Wednesday, Aug. 14th – All PreK through 5th grade students

All incoming Kindergartners will participate in our screening process during an assigned time on August 12th or 13th. These screenings provide important information to our classroom teachers about how to best meet your child's needs. Kindergarten families will receive an email with a link to sign up.

Our school day is from 8:00 – 2:45 (1:45 on Wednesdays for K-5). On students’ first two days of school, they will gather on the playground with their teacher. Beginning on Thursday, August 15, students arriving before 8:00 will either go to the cafeteria for breakfast (as early as 7:40) or to the gym for our daily community gathering (beginning at 7:45). Students should not arrive at school prior to that time, unless they are here for breakfast. The first bell will ring at 7:45, and students are welcome to enter the gym door #13 between 7:45 – 8:00. Breakfast will be served between 7:40 – 8:00. If your child would like breakfast, please have them arrive at door #9 as close to 7:40 as possible so they have plenty of time to eat. If students arrive after 8:00, they need to come through the front door.

CCSD provides a weekly Early Release Day for Elementary Schools. This allows our teachers to meet weekly in their Professional Learning Communities to continue to promote student achievement. Every Wednesday, K-5 students will dismiss at 1:45. Buses will run accordingly. Also, our Before and After Program will open at 1:45 every Wednesday afternoon. Please contact our program (720-886-8370) if that resource would be helpful.

We will continue to have Pre-Kindergarten students at Sagebrush. Pre-K families will have slightly different arrival procedures which will be communicated by your teachers. Also, Pre-K students attend Monday through Thursday, do not have early dismissal on Wednesday, and do not attend on Fridays.

Severe Needs Para Educators (Pay Range 6)

Job Description: Under the guidance of special education teachers, assist students with severe special education needs by helping individuals or small groups with their learning tasks, skills and behavior strategies.

Duties Include:

• Assisting students with classroom and center based skills and activities

• Modeling and reinforcing appropriate behavior strategies

• Supervising identified students at lunch, recess, and specials

• Assisting staff with paperwork, data collection, and documentation

• Providing for physical and emotional accommodations for individual students as needed.

Mild Moderate Needs Para Educator (Pay Range 5)

Job Description: Under the guidance of special education teachers, assist students with mild to moderate learning disabilities by helping individuals or small groups with their learning tasks.

Duties Include:

• Assisting students with classroom activities, including adapting the curriculum to meet student needs.

• Implement student accommodations

• Monitor and reinforce appropriate behavior for individual student needs

• Provide supervised, scheduled breaks for students in need.

Extended Child Services (ECS) is excited to offer Preschool Enrichment!

Preschool Enrichment is an optional, fee-based childcare program providing a quality experience for the other half of the Pre-Kindergarten day!

These programs operate Monday-Thursday, 8:00-2:45. Lunch is included!

These programs are first come, first served and space is limited!

Preschool Enrichment enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is OPEN!!!!

Your child must be enrolled with Cherry Creek Schools and 4-years old by October 1, 2024 to participate in the enrollment process.
