January 2025
Exhibiting at Lysaght Watt
Passionate about nurturing creativity, Lucie Blaze is an artist, graphic designer, dancer, art tutor in community-based art programs, and explorer of life’s mysteries. She founded Born to Create, a dynamic platform dedicated to celebrating and challenging conventional ideas of creativity. Through exhibitions, workshops, magazines, events, video interviews, and panel discussions, Born to Create aims to foster a holistic understanding of the many ways creativity can thrive.
Driven by a vision to spark meaningful change through artistic expression, Lucie created the Catalyst for Change exhibition as part of Born to Create. This exhibition seeks to inspire individuals to see creativity as a powerful force for transformation—on personal, social, and environmental levels. Lucie believes that art has the potential to expand perspectives, provoke reflection, and motivate action, and she hopes Catalyst for Change will encourage viewers to reimagine the role of creativity in addressing today’s challenges.
Lucie’s academic journey spans studies in the History and Theory of Art and Graphic Design in the Czech Republic, Visual Communication in Paris, a PGDip in Art Therapy, and most recently, Psychosynthesis here in Aotearoa New Zealand. This diverse educational background enriches her perspective and allows her to approach creativity with a multi-dimensional understanding, weaving historical and theoretical insights into her work.
Her journey is marked by a commitment to empowering aspiring artists, particularly youth and women. Lucie’s varied experiences—ranging from corporate projects to community-based initiatives—showcase her ability to navigate diverse creative landscapes and make a positive impact on individuals and communities alike.

Gallery Patea request
Gallery Pātea – Can you spare an hour of time on the 6th February?
A reminder that that Marianne Coady's exhibition winds up on the 1st of February, Those who have taken part in her workshops and have the results on display along with her work will be collecting their mahi on Saturday. We would like to invite you to come and view their results and share some refreshments from 10.30 am.
To our volunteers at the gallery a reminder that Toitu Te Reo will open on the 5th of February.
There are a few artists who have promised work for this exhibition, and it promises to be a good one. Unfortunately, I have a prior commitment and will be travelling on the 6th, otherwise would have been happy to keep the gallery open myself. The theme coincides with the kaupapa of Paepae in the park (Toitu te Tiriti) it would be great if the gallery could be open for a few hours on the 6th.
Perhaps from 11.30 am to 2..30pm? if anyone is able to donate an hour of time on the 6th to attend to the gallery in between attending Paepae, it would be a much-appreciated contribution to the gallery.
Please let me know if you would be willing to give an hour of time to keep the gallery open on the 6th, and I'll get back to you to confirm a time to be there.
