Teachers in Action

Meet our 2018 - 2019 Center Teachers

CEEAAS elementary, middle, and high school teachers use culturally relevant pedagogy across disciplines. Sample lessons can be found HERE

Mr. Brandon Harrison, CEEAAS teacher, uses the Broadway musical, Hamilton, to teach foundations of American democracy/government. Students created projects based on what they learned from the musical.

Dr. Gloria Boutte and graduate assistant, Jarvais Jackson, visited Mr. Harrison's class at Richland Northeast and shared their experience in Ghana this summer and also engaged students in conversations about their perspective of Africa.

Fulbright-Hays Ghana 2018

Drs. Gwenda Greene and Dywanna Smith, both participants in the 2018 Fulbright-Hays project to Ghana (co-lead by Dr. Boutte) describe their curriculum project target toward educating college students in the area of African Diaspora Literature. They will be sharing information at our upcoming Equity in Education Conference in their presentation entitled Rooted Love, Critical Consciousness And Reflective Praxis: Reimagining Schools of Education.

Tremontenia Morgan (Queen T), Fulbright-Hays participant, and Ameerah Collins demonstrate an African dance for the Fulbright Hays group during their meeting. Queen T will be leading a presentation on African dance at our January 15th Equity in Education conference.
